Currently listening and I like what I here. Obviously the lesson part was a bit too simple for me but it will definitely help some.

Just finished listening. I really liked it! I especially loved the first part, where you talked about the first 15 minutes of the movie. You pointed out some things that I hadn't noticed before. Also, the image of Quaritch in the "These Boots are Made for Walking" video made me laugh so much I woke up my roommate.

Just listened and man I need to change how I talk! My voice sounds bbblllleeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! When my segment came on I'm like "eww....is that ME???" Blarg. I'll try to work on that for the next episode. Y'all may not think it sounds bad, but I do! I barely even recognized myself!
IMHO I didn't think the "recycled" music was bad. It certainly didn't ruin the scene for me. Although I am also not privileged enough to have the 5-disc soundtrack or the full music score so I haven't heard what was originally written for the sturmbeest hunt scene.

I'll try to work on that for the next episode. Y'all may not think it sounds bad, but I do! I barely even recognized myself! I do the exact same thing. I'm sure part of it is just being overly self critical. There's a few things I've done to make it better though. The first is I got a better microphone w/ a good pop filter. This allowed me to talk directly into the microphone, so it can pick up a fuller sound. The second is that I can be a bit lazy in my pronunciation, so when I'm recording I try to over-enunciate a little. Finally, playing around with the positioning of the microphone w/ regard to its pickup geometry. For example if you're nose is more into the sensitive area than your mouth, you'll pick up a nasally sound. There is resonance off many parts of your body; your nose, throat, chest, etc. Each provides different tonal qualities to your voice. Basically, play around with what what you have available and see what you can do. Record yourself in several ways and listen to them, see what you like. (For the pop filter, I've been won over by metal pop filters; they last longer than nylon, and are uncanny in their ability to redirect plosives away from the microphone.)
