Kaltxì frapo,

So i've been pretty confused in the affix part of the na'vi language, and thinking back to my days of learning french and whatnot I realized that what helped me a lot was doing worksheets, and problem solving instead of simply trying to memorize the definitions and ideas.  I'm a 'learn by doing' kinda person i suppose.

Anyway a little while back I decided, to help myself learn the grammatical stuff that isn't simply memorization, I'd make a simple worksheet that started with a quick explanation of Plurality and Pronouns, followed by some fill-in-the-blank sentences, their answers, and a short gloss. My thought is that the process of making the sheets, and then of course doing the sheet would help me get a solid grip on the stuff I've been having trouble digesting.

Posting the results in IRC I had Taronyu look it over and make corrections (as he is a linguist) and since then we've both been making worksheets, which have been well received by others.

Eventually, we hope to have a complete series of worksheets for all the grammar, which will be able to accurately help everyone understand grammar, everywhere from plurality and pejoratives, to infixes and case.  As we complete these sheets we want to make sure they are correct and without mistakes, but when they are finalized, they will be posted here, as Taronyu and I both agree that getting these sheets out will solve a lot of problems.

So now, without further ado, here are the 'finalized' worksheets, for your learning enjoyment!

Na'vi Grammar 1.1 - Plurality
Na'vi Grammar 1.2 - Gender, Laudative and Pejorative
Na'vi Grammar 1.3 - Topical, Genitave and Dative cases
Na'vi Grammar 1.4 - Ergative and Accusative suffixes
Na'vi Grammar 1.5 - Tense, Aspect, and Infixes
Na'vi Grammar 1.7 - Lenition

I'll be updating this topic as the worksheets are finalized.

edit: 01/31/10 - Worksheets 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.7 corrected and updated.

Irayo. Thats great. Awesome you are. Will help a lot. Those are some of the two subjects I've been having the most trouble with.

It would it be a good idea to have worksheets to help memorize the na'vi vocabulary? I'm just curious on everyone's thought.

with the advent of programs like jmemorize and flashcard apps for smartphones, we felt that memorization worksheets would not take precedence over grammar.

Should there be some sort of link, like omängum fra'uti said, but at hometree (like learnnavi.org in the downloads section, or make a new assignments section)?  ...And we will update it every week so if someone wants to pick up their new worksheet there is just a button to instantly pull it up and print it off. But of course, make it in a section where they have access to the previous assignments.

Hmm, just a thought to be revised.

My browser does not like the formatting for the link to sheet 1.3.  Also, what happened to sheet 1.2?

BTW, I agree these are wonderful helps.

Jack

Make these into a textbook and you could start teaching the Na'vi college class!

Or kindergarten class, depending on how things develop in the near future.

Irayo, for these
these worksheets are very helpful indeed.

Kaltxì Palulukan!

Kaltxì karyu nawm and Irayo,
(Hello teacher honored[and] thank you,)

With all due respect, when you actually DOWNLOAD the files, they save as "1.1_plurality.pdf" and not as Na'vi Grammar 1.1 - Plurality.pdf
or even Na'viGrammar1.1-Plurality.pdf.

While this may not mean much to a mind such as yours, please imagine the student, ravaging the internet for all manner of lessons and documents. The generic "1.1_plurality.pdf" ceases to mean anything after a day or two of discussions and downloads. It becomes lost in the pile. A simple change of file names would make it easier to organize, and confusion avoided, as students would not be renaming your files to make sense of them in a pile of other documents. LATER, when you add to this series or update these documents, they will simply replace the other files, as they are named the same.

I mention this as I have had to rename your files (now my files) Na'vi Gramar 1.1_plurality.pdf so that I know that THIS SET of documents differs from my other Na'vi documents, such as my Na'vi Dictionary.pdf, Navi-Vocabulary(sorted-english).pdf, Navi-Alphabet.pdf or any of my 4a-Na'vi Worksheet- Prepositions and Places ANSWERS.pdf documents.

I imagine my library of Na'vi reference material will grow exponentially, so easy order, early on, might not best be the path of least (information absorption) resistance?

Irayo nìmun
(Thank you again)

2022 update: Working on the new astrology book. "How to read tarot" books are on Amazon, if you are into that sort of thing.
Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)
(Very old, outdated) Na'vi FUN activity book is here: But what are you doing? Let me know! :)

What browser are you using to read? 1.2 is still being proofread and finalized.

Eventually, I think, when most of the grammatical worksheets are compiled, corrected, and finalized, we are going to be putting them on the website, individually, and also as one big worksheet 'book.' We're workin' on it

<snip>

A Valid point! Ill get to that later tonight and re-update everything. My thought process was along my own way of organizing - all of them on my computer are in a folder entitled 'na'vi grammar' but I wasn't considering how others would use them.  Irayo!

Hey could you make the answers on a diff file maybe, becuase i print them out and made the mistake of looking at the answers b4 he test, lol.

If its too much work dont worry about it,

OR

as an add on to my hometree suggestion, you could release the Worksheets on  date: X, then the answers later, on date: Y ya know, so its a challenge.
