Kaltxì ma frapo! I need your help. I'm beginner in this wonderful language but I have some questions: How can translate (or transliterate) English words for terrestrial animals? I know Na'vi has not enough terms for most of the animals that are familiar for me. So I'd like to know the rules. I also have found the ethymology of my name: it means "which has long life". Can you help me to translate the words? I know the Na'vi words for "life" and "long" but I want the final result be natural, like an authentic Na'vi name. I don't know if the terms could be lenited or fused to achieve a good result. I hope you can help me, irayo ma 'eylan !!

rules for na'vi phonetics can be found in this very old but timeless post: http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=1977

abide by those rules when loaning words from English. the typical thing people do here is use the na'vi word of the pandoran animal which most closely resembles the terran animal.

also popular are the unofficial words for dog and cat:

nantangtsyìp = dog
palulukantsyìp = cat, palutsyìp for short.

not official, but if you see them, thats what they mean.

someome explain the Na'vi name formula, i dont have time atm

Irayo! I have printed "Na'vi in a nutshell" and the dictionaries... I know some Na'vi grammar and I can write short sentences, but I still can't understand at all the rules about how to transliterate or translate new words. Anyway, I'll take a look in your links.

What word for "long" you want to use? Ngim can be used only for physical length, not for time. So to say "which has long life" we must use something like:
rusey txankrr - living for a long time
