Xbox 720 Launch Not Likely in 2013, PS4 Coming First, says Analyst:

Xbox Next, as it's been dubbed according to sources at Develop, could be launched in 2013, but some believe Sony is likely to take action first, rather than allowing Microsoft to get the first mover's advantage as they did this generation with Xbox 360. RW Baird analyst Colin Sebastian told IndustryGamers that Sony probably will launch its next PlayStation first.

"I doubt they will be ready for launch in 2013.  Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014.  There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation," he said.

It's also been rumored this week that Sony's already begun early development on numerous PS4 titles, and given the 2-3 year development time needed for most triple-A game projects, a late 2013 or 2014 launch would make sense.

Maybe GTA V will be a launch title?

Microsoft confirms that Xbox 720 will not be showed on E3 2012

http://www.gamezone.com/products/xbox-720/news/microsoft-confirms-no-xbox-720-reveal-at-e3-2012

In case you missed their first announcement, Microsoft again reiterated that they will not be showing off the Xbox 720 at E3 2012, or "anytime soon" for that matter.  Despite the rumors floating around about Microsoft allegedly working on the next-gen Xbox 720, or "Xbox Durango", the company remains committed to the current Xbox 360 in 2012.

In a statement released to Kotaku, Microsoft said it would continue to focus on the Xbox 360 after the console posted its "biggest year ever" in 2011.
"While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon," he company confirmed.
"For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360-and it's the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever-a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide."
"Xbox 360 didn't just outsell other consoles, it also outsold all other TV-connected devices like DVD players, as well as digital media receivers and home theater systems. And in our seventh year, we sold more consoles than in any other year-defying convention," the company boasted.
On the games' front, Microsoft will "build on that Xbox 360 momentum."

Valve and Sony have worked togheter before, namely with the Portal 2 Steam integration for PS3. What if the PS4 would feature full Steam integration?

Hell, I'd buy that on release.,

Unlikely. Cross-platform games are the exception rather than the rule when it comes to integrated play (rather than just ported versions), especially with the significantly lower performance of consoles.

Newest info about the Playstation 4, codenamed Orbis

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/01/report-ps4-dev-kits-surface-details-inside

A new version of the PlayStation 4 dev kit is currently being distributed to developers with the final version expected next year, according to a new report.

Anonymous sources have reportedly told VG247 that new versions of the Orbis kit are winging their way to developers, replete with Blu-ray support and housed in the humble cases of normal PCs.

This is apparently the second iteration of the dev kit; the first, which appeared earlier this year, was in essence just a graphics card, while this version is now a "modified PC". The report asserts that the next update will come in January, when it'll be close to final specifications, with the ultimate version landing with devs next summer.

The shipping of the Orbis kit apparently follows a series of meetings held by Sony in the US this week, where the company explained what the machine was designed to do and how to get the most out of it. Interestingly, at these meetings it's been claimed that Sony didn't refer to the machine as "the PlayStation 4" at all, instead opting to use the "Orbis" title at all times.

The dev kits are apparently based on the AMD’s A10 APU series and come with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, as well as the Blu-ray drive already mentioned and a 256GB hard drive as standard. This is to ensure that the console will be able to run 1080p60 games in 3D.

The Orbis kits have both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, as well as HDMI out slots; so pretty much exactly what you'd expect to find on your current PlayStation 3. However, the big reported difference comes with the UI, which has been designed to be more fluid and allow extensive navigation anywhere on the system simply by pressing the PS button mid-game. This was demoed to the assembled masses by purchasing DLC from the PS Store without quitting the game.

No details were leaked about the system's controller. IGN reached out to Sony for comment, but were told the company "doesn't comment on rumour and speculation."

Xbox 720 Reportedly Coming Holiday 2013 Shocked Shocked Shocked

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/30/xbox-720-reportedly-coming-holiday-2013

Microsoft is reportedly planning to release its next console in time for the 2013 holiday season. According to a new rumor from Bloomberg, people “familiar with the company’s plans” say the new system is aiming to take advantage of Thanksgiving and Christmas sales, though the sources chose to remain anonymous “because the product road map is confidential.”

Microsoft is said to still be deciding when the console will be revealed, currently weighing a reveal at E3 against a separate, dedicated event like the announcement of the Xbox 360 in 2005.

Bloomberg’s report seemingly confirms earlier rumors about the next Xbox’s release timing, including word from developers that the next generation will begin in 2013 and multiple rumors suggesting Microsoft is aiming for the end of next year.

Sony Executive anticipates "major announcement of PlayStation"
Hiroshi Sakamoto, vice president of Home Entertainment for the Japanese company, also stressed the importance of the Chilean market in technology adoption in Latin America.

LAS VEGAS. - During our visit to Las Vegas could see not only new products but we also had a few minutes to talk to some of the top executives of major technology company.

One of those meetings was with Hiroshi Sakamoto, vice president of Home Entertainment at Sony, who beat us in a brief interview with an important announcement on the PlayStation area only a few months.

We have seen innovations in different areas of entertainment from Sony What is the biggest trend that has Home Entertainment in 2013?
"Chile is a country that in comparison to Latin America has a penetration level of higher technologies, as was the case for HD screens that reach almost 100%. This level of growth is obviously lower than that of other regions like the U.S. and Europe, but still in innovative smartphones, video games, audio set small, on the TVs. therefore introduce new technologies, to encourage the TV market. believe that the new 4K technology, which is four times the technology current can be attractive for the Chilean market. "

Presenting NFC teams was an important part of the company's keynote this system will also be part of the new creations for this year?
"The main direction of the company goes hand in hand with the development of smartphones that can access the information of those teams quickly. Lets create both televisions and telephones for sharing this content, we will not use cable connections but we're going towards integration of different teams. "

Wireless technology is in line for 'One Touch', a technology that eliminates cumbersome steps of connection between devices. Now the whole category of sounds NFC teams have not only hearing but also Home Theatre, TVs, including some models of cameras and Vaio computers also. There are many teams that will have wireless option to NFC in the future. "

So we can say that this technology is in the long term plans of the company?
"Yes, this type of technology 'One touch' will be applied to many things, it is more convenient and easier for users. Want teams that serve these to listen, watch, and we are excited to implement new products."

As for consoles, has said enough that Sony has ads for this year and is working on a new PlayStation Will we see a new model in a few months?
"That's still a big secret, but our friends are preparing Sony PlayStation. I can only say that we are focused on the E3 gaming event, scheduled for June.'s Announcement may be in that minute or even earlier in May."

But are preparing a big announcement or something additional?
"Probably the first, in that time we expect to deliver great news, but we must wait until May at least."

So we know a reveal date, so? Still no date of when its going on the market. But I am already sure, if it comes out, I wont buy it right away. Since I spend a big amount on my PS3 with lots of fun games.

Plus if the PS4 is going to be so expensive again, I'm going to wait for a Slim Version, which will probably be cheaper then.

P.S. : didn't read the article, so correct me if I am wrong.

Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 Secrets Allegedly Leaked to Nvidia by Former AMD Executives

Over the last year, AMD executives have been abandoning ship for rival Nvidia, and according to a new lawsuit, they took confidential information about the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 with them. Engadget reports that AMD has filed suit against four ex-employees, claiming that the executives absconded with thousands of confidential documents, including sensitive information about technologies at use in next-gen consoles. As our well-placed sources told us last year, custom silicon based on AMD's A8-series APU and HD 7670 GPU will be used in the PlayStation 4, while the Xbox 720 will combine an IBM PowerPC CPU and a custom version of AMD's 6670 GPU.

The lawsuit targets the former VP of AMD's Strategic Division, Robert Feldstein, who played a key role in developing custom hardware for game consoles like the Xbox 360, Wii, and Wii U. AMD claims that he and others transfered 100,000 files that contain trade secrets related to development, based on "forensically-recovered data" that indicates the executive used external storage devices on his company computer before his departure. What's more, Feldstein and Richard Hagen, another AMD executive, lured two other employees to Nvidia.
