That is a reasonable conclusion given that he worked so closely with Weta who is also based in New Zealand.

He could take over Kim Schmitz/Dotcom's house. I never was there in New Zealand but everything I have seen about it looked like a paradise on earth. I wish him good luck.

New Zealand must have a heck of a promotion program for filmmaking, especially of the fantasy genre with the Avatar franchise fits into at least partially. Even with the nearly unlimited resources JC has, it does not surprise me at all that he has chosen New Zealand for a film project (this does not necessarily have to be the Avatar sequels he is working on. He could have something else in the works).
It will be interesting to see what comes of this.

Saw it in my local newspaper a couple of days ago. Not too surprising that it's NZ, although I found it somewhat surprising that it's going to be a farm. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.

Among being so geologically dramatic with it's mountains and lush forests and unique wildlife, I would wager also that New Zealand, like Vancouver, Canada, has a much less costly tax towards movies.
It makes sense that he would want to have a 'home' there during at the very least, the duration of his filming on location there. It would also give him access to cold water and deep oceans for his future filming.
It is common sense, really.

As long as he doesn't try to bond Avatar to the Shire....I'm pleased. I've LOVE to go to NZ, it's a dream of mine!
