Elisany Silva, a 14-year-old girl is 206 centimeters tall. She looks like Neytiri's younger sister :)

BTW Anyone here knows Portuguese language and can translate it to English?

Wow!  That's pretty tall...she's taller then my 18 year old boyfriend... and he's a giant!

Ok, here's basically what they say:

QuoteThat way, Elisany looks like an usual teen, but when we move the camera away, you see that everything aorund her is too small.

Elisany says: I can't do things right, I wanted to play with my friends, but that way I can't.

The 14 years girls is 2 meters and 6 centimeters tall. The average height for a girl with her age is 1,51 m. So, inside her home, everything is harder to her.

Elisany says: It's hard when I'm inside home, I get distracted and I hit the wood in the ceiling with my head.

But not only inside home her fast growth has disturbed the normal life of Elisany. Three months ago she had to leave the school as she couldn't sit properly in the bus.
Her mother has no conditions to pay a treatment and has no idea about the disease that her daughter has.

Elisany's mother says:  I want she to stop growing up, to be alike the other girls because I know she feels weird and sometimes wants to be like them.

Accordingly to a specialist, Elisany might have a very rare disease called "Gigantismo" (Translation note: It literally means Giantism). A part of the brain produces too much growth so that the person grows up fast. She might grow 15 centimeters per year, almost the triple of a normal child. if it is not treated, the "gigantismo" may create complications.

Specialist says: She might have the symptoms of the disease, which may be the headache, vision problems and the death of some other glands, like the thyroid, the adrenals and the ovaries. It might cause serious complications for her health and even the death.

Despite all the difficulties, Elisany still has dreams:

Elisany says: I want to be a model very much.

this makes me think about if the Na'vi have anything like this were someone is abnormally taller or shorter than the average Na'vi?

Actually, she might be able to appear in movies if she doesn't get thyroid cancer or a heart condition. Also, just being in a video might ger her enough attention to warrent a sponsor. She does have a very pretty face and her voice is quite lovely. I really hope somebody notices her soon. Somebody write a letter to James Cameron!

Neytiri: She will try to kill you.
Jake: Outstanding. *takes out an ikran-catcher and walks through hometree looking for women*

You guys, I have an idea.

We should raise the money for her so she can get at least one treatment! We all rallied together to raise the money to keep this forum running, so I really believe we can raise some money to get her some medical attention!! Somebody get Seabass. But first, let's talk about it here.

We need to find out
*How much a treatment or doctor's appointment would cost
*Where she lives
*How to get the money to her
And we need to figure out how to gather some others who want to help.
We did this once to save Learn Na'vi, we can do this too!!

Well, about the disease, we have this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigantism. Also, in a portuguese page (http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigantismo_pituit%C3%A1rio) it says that it may be treated with drugs or with a surgery. I don't know the price. Also, as far as we know, she lives in Brazil. Ok, Brazil is very big... I don't know how to discover where she lives, but I guess that the movie has been seen on TV also, so perhaps if we contact the TV station, they know?
Finally, but also hard, would be convince her that ane english site wants to help her  :-\

Just want to clarify, we didn't do this to "save" LN.org, simply to help garner support for it, there was no immediate peril for the site (though, this is of course not saying that the donations we're completely awesome and welcome) </derail>

Oeya sap'alute for necroposting...   She has an over-active pituitary gland, its located in the brain, near the brainstem. (I think/most certain)   When I was three, I stopped growing. My pituitary gland stopped producing, (Sending signals) to other glands for the growth process. In this case, mine was the exact opposite of hers. I just stopped growing.  :-[     I had to take HGH (Human Growth Hormone) for about 12years.      50CCs of HGH is the normal for gradual growth...  The dilution is lessened each year, for your body to acclimate into what is called "Puberty".  Let me put it this way.  When I was in 1st grade, up until 2nd grade. Kindergartner were towering over my height.   I was a little guy. HRH, and I was picked on for it.

Its ok man, we have our problems, and hardships.    Actually, very few people know about my experiences when I was young, other than intimidate family, or friends. I have not talked about this in 5 years.  Funny thing is, I do not remember what if feels like to take a shot every night.    The good thing is, I'm not afraid of needles. HRH!
