Sad I was familiar with a few of these. It's amazing how many sub-speices of tiger have already disappeared (I can name 3-4 off the top of my head).

Someone asked me recently why it's bad when animals go extinct.. I had to think long an hard about a non-emotional answer, and came to the conclusion that at the rate animals are going extinct now, it is a warning sign for all of us that we need to pull back, lest we put our own future in critical danger.

Not sure if people will heed this, but it is a sign of over-arching change about to come.
