[Stranger Come Knocking]

History
I admit, I have been absent from the forum for quite a while, but I did not slack (not all the time, anyway) in my learning of Na'vi.  I started this project back in November.  I was out of school, sick and feeling blecky, so I got out the trusty VHS and watched some movies.  The Prince of Egypt is the first movie I remember seeing and it has remained my favorite to this day.  It was translated into 21 non-English languages and I decided I was going to make it 22.

What I Know
Once I finished a page, I did not look back (unless it was a super serious error).  That said, only later did I realize some mistakes, but I was too eager to finish and knew it was going to be torn apart anyway.  So then, here are just a few things I know for certain need to be changed:

• The first few videos I went through were a little funky and the quality was sort of bad.  Only later did I find the one with good quality and could be easily formatted.  It is likely I will have to go back and completely redo the images in Chapter One. Crossed off!  Beh.  It's not that bad.
• I color-coded the dialogue, but not until Chapter Two, so some of Chapter One needs to be redone. Done!
• I named Chapter One "Death of the First-Born" even though it really wasn't.  It was all male children under 2 years old.  Still searching for a suitable title.
• I named Chapter Two "Smukan Kämakto" when it should be "Mesmukan Kämakto"

• I freaking royally screwed up on some pages of Chapter Seven and they happen to be missing (see list).  Just go with it for now. *kicks self*

The lost pages have been found!

• In Chapter Nine, I put "oel ngeyä suteti lonu" for Rämìses, when it should be "oel ngeyä suteti ke lonu" Done!

What I Want
Help!  Okay, that's a bit obvious.  But I want this to be learning material so anyone who knows the movie can quickly pick up on the lines and the dialogue.  I downloaded the movie in 14 different languages and while I don't speak any of them fluently, I know the movie so I can snitch a few words or lines.  I realize that because of the limited number of words currently available, it cannot be completed in a day.

Also, there are a few songs in Hebrew that I would like to either translate or transliterate.  I translated the first one (Yochevid's song in Chapter One) but did nothing to the second one (Chapter 11).  Thoughts?

A Few Requests
Again, because of the availability of vocabulary as well as Na'vi's unique grammar and syntax, word-for-word translation is impossible.  However, I don't want to completely lose the meaning for sake of comfortable speech.  Therefore, there are just a few phrases I would like kept "in tact":

"Deliver Us!" - Chapter One I know there is "srung si" but I want something powerful!  Other languages I know in this are (and PLEASE correct me if I mess up):

• "Deliver Us" = English
• "Hoshia Na" = Hebrew
• "Liberte Nos" = Portuguese (BR)
• "Siis Johdata" = Finnish (I think)

Done!  Zong ayoet! and Vewng ayoet! - IRAYO, MA ALYARA!

"All I ever wanted" - Chapter Four Moses' song as he contemplates Miriam's words.  I approximated it as "Completely what I wanted" but can it be closer?

"Stop it!  Leave that man alone!" - Chapter Five Another great line that sets the movie in motion as Moses takes a leap of faith and goes against his life's "training."

"Good-bye, brother." - Chapter 5, 12 I'm not sure what to use here; Moses is speaking both times as "Good-bye; I am never going to see you again" (or at least he wasn't planning to).

"Thus sayeth the Lord" - Chapter 9 Just one of those things... >_>

"Let my people go!" - Multiple Nuff said. Done! - Lonu oeyä suteti!

There are a few words that I wonder if the Na'vi would have any concept of or how they would be approximated:

slave/ry I found "spe'etu" but it doesn't seem right.  Maybe it's just me. >_>

sovereign More than powerful, sovereign means absolute control, what Pharaoh says, goes.

Animal References: Cobra, snake, hippo, crocodile, falcon, camel, sheep

That's all I can think of at the moment.  I'm sure there will be more. o_o

The Big Question
Why leave the empty boxes empty?

Aside from the fact that some of the words don't exist or I wasn't clear on the grammar or I just got admittedly lazy?  I thought about inserting the English equivs, but then I decided against it for the simple reason that tone is everything.  Even though it is a movie, pictures and animation can only go so far, but it's the voice that portrays emotion.  Therefore, I left the empty boxes empty.

If you would like to know the tone of the characters, look the movie up on Hulu or YouTube or wherever it is that you watch online movies.
(YouTube = TheJesusPad = the clips I used)

Also, if English fails to yield a sufficient grasp of ideas or conveyance of emotion, I would prefer to fall back on the Hebrew version of the movie simply because that would have been the language they would be using. ^^

Hi there.  Tanhì here.  See now, I realize this is a very large project, but any little tidbit of help would be appreciated.  I am only a beginner in Na'vi and proofreading is definitely in order.  I do what I can, but eventually...I need help.  If anyone would be so kind as to just look over one page and tell me what needs to be fixed, that would be amazing.  I will certainly list everyone as a helper and may even give out some karma. So then, what do you say?  Help out a poor skxawng?

What's a fwampop?  I'm afraid I don't quite know my Pandoran animals very well.

I think it sounds fine, except for a couple of changes needed:
Ngal yolem fwampopit apxa sìn kenten akawng... sì kentenit akawng sìn... sìn yayo a taron.
Also I've been thinking about "snake" and "cobra":  there's ioang luke hinam, or maybe txumnga'a swirä hinamluke.
