Na'vin Nos'feratxu

____________________________________________________________________
Quote from: Question #1Who are you?

My name is Henry and I'm 25 years old. I was born and raised in the state of Oklahoma in the USA. I live alone, but I see my family as often as I can. I'm proud of my family :D

Quote from: Question #2Why are you here?

I came across LN in search of someone who could teach me the Language. I am still amazed at how many people also love this mystical language, I've had a few teachers along the way all from LN! I can't imagine leaving LN for any reason. The people make this place wonderful and they are a joy to talk to. It's only here that I can practice what I learn and continue to learn Na'vi. I spend somewhere between 20minutes or 2 hours a day here!

Quote from: Question #3Where do your alias and profile pic come from?

My profile picture was found over Google image search a long time ago. Whoever drew it must have had me in mind, because if I was ever Na'vified, that's how I would look! My name Na'vin came from when I messed up and put to words together. I was talking to a friend about LN, he asked what Language it was and did I speak it really well? I answered both questions by accidentally saying "Na'vin..no" How Na'vin sounded after I said it struck me as very cool.  The last part of my name Nos'feratu is derived from the anime Berserk with a character known as Nosferatu Zodd. In my mind the name Nos'feratu sounded powerful so I threw it in!

Quote from: Question #4Srak nga tsun nìna'vi pivlltxe?

I speak very little Na'vi sadly, I am always learning new things but I have a tough time retaining it as I don't often get to use what I learned! But I will never stop trying! When I first saw Avatar I loved everything about the people, the place and their culture. I wanted to learn more! Starting with their language. My family does know that I am learning Na'vi and I have been able to convert my brother into learning it as well.
I've used Na'vi rather than English to speak in frustration, as English words sound much more horrible rather than just saying "Wiya!!"

Quote from: Question #5What's you favorite Na'vi word? Did you incorporate it (or others) into your everyday vocab?

Well, I have a few favorite words rather than just one. (Although I love the word Fi'u) In day to day life I often find myself saying "Nì'úl kamé tskxe."

Quote from: Question #6In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?

Number 1 would have to be the RPs that so many imaginative Na'vi lovers write.
Number two is Na'vi in a Nutshell, this has helped me tons!
Number pxey, the forums which harbor all these awesome people who love Avatar and the Na'vi just as I do.

Quote from: Question #7Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?

I want to contribute something just because I love LN. So I am currently in the process of constructing a forge and some very detailed photos of the weaponry in Avatar. I Blacksmith for a hobby so why not make some functional Na'vi knives? You know you want one!

Quote from: Question #8What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?

I loved Avatar because I could relate to it. I live around the forest and I often hunt in it, if someone threatened my home I'd fight to protect it! I cant think of one thing I hated about Avatar. I've seen Avatar, if I had to guess, around 50+ times (at least). I'm an Avatard, absolutely! I am currently drawing up a pattern to resemble the Na'vi luminescent dot patterns. Then I'm going to get it tattooed on me with Chameleon Ink!

Quote from: Question #9Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?

Avatar changed my life completely. It helped me to accept who I am instead of putting on a different persona in Society to 'fit in.' I was born and raised in forested areas, I traversed them when I was little and hunted them as I grew. In a way, I am wild. I had to change in order to be seen as 'normal.' Avatar gave me a sense of pride for our World.
I also aim to move to the Hawaiian Island Kauai, I believe I'll be happier there.

Quote from: Question #10If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?

To Cameron: Can I be in your next movie!!!?
To Frommer: Could you get the college Universities to accept the Na'vi language and have classes for it? (I would go!)
To Cameron: Will Jake and Neytiri have a child? If so, will you name it after me? :D

Quote from: Question #11What else do you do in you free time?

I Blacksmith as a hobby. I practice mixed martial arts and the use of melee weapons such as Sabres, 2H swords and knives. Apart from these I spend time with my family!

Quote from: Question #12Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?

#1: Humans: I find people to be the most fascinating creatures on Earth.
#2: Bengal Tiger: I love the Tiger, its power and finesse are what I strive to achieve. Fierce and fast, the tigers eyes are like my own.
#3: Black Panther: A master of the forest, Silent and deadly his yellow eyes only strike fear in its prey.
I'm unafraid of all animals and creatures. I grew up around them, and coming face to face with a beast would only make me smile.

Quote from: Question #13Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?

Superpowers? I've always loved being big and strong (i'm 6'5" and 200lbs of muscle) I wish that my strength and appearance resembled my Soul. A lion would pose no threat to me.
But more so, I wish I had the ability to communicate with all creatures.

Quote from: Question #14What three items would you take to a desert island and why?

I would only take my trusty Blades with me, thats all I would need. Oh! and some bottled water :P     Annnnd a laptop so I could stay in contact with LN.

Quote from: Question #15If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?

Oh man, you know my answer! I would give anything to go to Pandora! I would want to go there, because in my mind Pandora is the ideal place to live! No cities, no cars, no pavement.
I get an adrenaline rush just thinking about it!

Quote from: Question #16If you were granted one single wish what would it be?

I would wish for the ability to make anything I wanted, a Reality.

Quote from: Question #17What is a question you'd ask yourself? How would you answer it?

I'd ask myself, "What is the meaning of life?"  ...  I'd answer, "Life is a lesson, you learn it when your through."

Quote from: Question #18True or false?

I wear a size 16 shoe.
I have hunted and killed a Deer with just a knife.
I was left stranded at age 12 in the New Mexico forest and survived for 3 days by myself.

Quote from: Question #19: My Life is AVTRWhat is the funniest, weirdest, or most embarrassing Na'vi or Avatar  related thing that has happened to you?

One of my co-workers said she wishes she was Navi, I said "Me too!" .. After an awkward moment she said... "You want to be a fairy?!"   My eyes got huge as I had mistaken Navi the fairy from peter pan, with Na'vi from Avatar...  :P

Quote from: Question #20: Bonus QuestionWhat animal on Pandora would you want to be if you had a choice of any of the creatures?

Toruk.

Ma Na'vin, ma 'eylan, you make me grin.

A few things here...Nosferatu as a word has a different history.

Don't forget to use tsa-hey and pxasìk!

Here is something else useful:  N'avi cheatsheet

What kinds of materials do you use for authentic Na'vi knives?  They sound awesome!

What is chameleon ink?

As for your true/false statements, I am going to guess F/T/T.  Because #2 is plausible given your skills and interests and #3 just sounds so far out there that it might just be true, which leaves only #1 as false statement.

I wondered if the fairy's name was pronounced Nay-vee or Nah-vee.  Interestingly, she's blue too.  ;)

Na'vin Nos'feratxu

#2
hahah ya! I know Nosferatu was also a movie of a vampire in 1922.
It also means a Symphony of horror or terror. But I only added the meaning it had to me :D

Yep, I say Pxasik a lot too, but Wiya rolls right off the tongue!  ;D

I make knives from steel, I try and make Damascus steel, which consists of a harder steel and a softer steel. In multiple layers (6-18) you can flatten and fold the soft and hard steel together.
The hard steel makes for sturdiness, while the softer steel allows for flexibility. 1000+ layers makes a fine knife :)

Chameleon ink is an ink that only glows under a black light. So during the day you woudnt see the tattoo, but under a black light you can and it glows any color depending on your choice!

You really has a chance of having been able to grow up in such a natural environment and to be able to live very close to nature. If it is good and normal to cope with the modern society, you can certainly be very proud of this heritage you can transmit. I did not have this chance.  :)

I thought that using some fluorescent ink for the body patterns could make it better, as black light is not very accessible and not everywhere. I have been thinking about this too.

I can't wait to see how you make you knives, especially since you take inspiration from the Na'vi knives and tools. The only thing I have that could be close to this is an 85cm long African steel dagger, with snake skin on the handle and some few leather.

You can also use many other Na'vi expressions for positive feelings, such as Nang! or Txantsan! Na'vi is such a beautiful and expressive language.

...Talking about Na'vi and Navi, I completely forgot Peter Pan's fairy had that name. However I do mix up with Link's fairy in Zelda Ocarina of Time. ;D

Anyway, congratulations ma Na'vin!

I'll try to guess, but these ones seem more difficult :

Tsleng - Ngay (I hope the deer did not suffer much, if it was true) - Ngay (since you seem to be able to be in perfect symbiosis with forests and nature).

Txura Rolyu

I am gonna guess F/T/F

#3 is False because if you are so connected with family why would they ever abandon you.  ???

Anyways congrats on being NotW and I hope that you can get the forge built soon. I would love to see the knives start coming out as time goes by.  :D
Quote from: Ekirä on March 30, 2011, 04:45:34 PMNeytiri: Now you choose your woman. This you must feel inside. If she also chooses you, move quick like I showed.
Jake: How will I know if she chooses me?
Neytiri: She will try to kill you.
Jake: Outstanding. *takes out an ikran-catcher and walks through hometree looking for women*

Thanks everyone! <3

Chameleon Ink is the only FDA approved "glowing" ink on the market.
All others pose a high risk of problems due to the phosphorus in them. Phosphorus is a poison which our bodies will purge of if in the skin.
Phosphorus will also give you skin cancer. So black light ink is the only safe glowing ink there is.

Thanks again guys :D

Navi fairy, not Na'vi.  ;D

That fairy is from Zelda Ocarina of Time to be exact, often qualified as the best opus of Zelda.

The last part of my name Nos'feratu is derived from the anime Berserk with a character known as Nosferatu Zodd. In my mind the name Nos'feratu sounded powerful so I threw it in!

I'm sure you already know this, but I thought I'd mention it in case you didn't. "Nosferatu" is also synonymous for "vampire" the term becoming widespread after the release of the very popular 1920's German movie of the same name.

Ah, yes. This is also why it probably make me remember a Pokemon's name.  ;D
