Professor Paul Frommer discusses the Na'vi language

We're mentioned right at the start with a Na'vi message to us! I won't spoil it as a test to see how well you can pick up Na'vi on the fly. Most of it we've already heard but it's a great plug. Wish he mentioned the site directly but oh well. HRH

I saw this earlier.  Pretty cool, even though the site doesn't get mentioned.

He makes mention that there is a community learning the language though, but doesn't accually say Learn Na'vi.  Who knows, maybe it will make more people google it or something.  Last I checked, Learnnavi.org was at the top of the list when you googled Learn Navi...

He probably shouldn't be endorsing particular sites.

Nonetheless, if people are desperate for Na'vi lol, we have hrh (< herangham, if I follow correctly).

You know, Paul is a confirmed class act. Even when interviewed by a twit like that guy.

That's what I came up with as well.

I added a comment on the YouTube video and facebook video linking people to LN.org

I can answear his question about if Na'vi is easer than German...It's by FAR easier. -l, -ti and -lu is by far easier than

Der/Die/Das/Die article on nominative (subject, suffices for ergative)
Den/Die/Das/Die article on accusative (object)
Dem/Der/Dem/den article on dative (indirect object)

German is a beutiful language though.:)

I also love the -a- in na'vi adjectives...

Oh well, if he mentions us over another site, the other site would likely whine, even though, we are, I think, the largest language related site for Na'vi online.

EDIT: That dudes haircut makes me wanna gouge my eyes out. That dumb attempt at a combover on the right side of his face. [/rant]

Are there other sites?

Yea, there's at least three that I know of.

One is called "Tree of Souls", the other is "Avatar Forums" and I can't remember what the third one is, but of all of them, I believe we, far and away, are the largest of them.

I linked a translator from "Avatar Forums" to here awhile back. I'll put it to you this way, the most active user on that forum has 584 posts and the whole board only has 492 users, and "Tree of Souls" only has 275 users, while we are approaching 5000.

Avatar forum is really more 'normal' fan level than language learners.

In a brief discourse with Frommer about appearing at ComiCon this year (see convention forum for those details) I mentioned how HRH was quickly catching on from what I had seen. He seemed quite pleased about this and asked for a link to the interview (he hadn't seen it yet).

I wonder if we'll get more Na'vi txt lingo? HRH

Just FNN, there has already been some work done in this area.
Maybe we could get that list to Karyu Pawl and let him have a look?

edit: Snap, top of the page again. I hate when that happens!

And unlike them, we're a Na'vi language site with a Avatar subforum, when they are an Avatar fanforum with a language subforum. And one of their genitive lessons have written "ngayä" instead of "ngeyä", so I'll say this is certainly the best site fpi leNa'via li'fya.

Kätsyín te Zotxekay Tsyal’itan

I was citing Avatar-related forums in general, so we are by far the largest related forum on the net.

OK, so we're the second biggest, but I won't count us as such, since my browser won't load avatar-forums.com for whatever reason, I still count us as #1.
