Kaltxì ma frapo!
I would like to see how many of you are already a bit skilled in archery.
In the tribe the hunt will play a big role for all of us, so it would be handy if you know how to handle a bow.
Not that you cant learn in the forest itself, or where ever we may build our camp and village, but it would be good to already know some things about this.
As a few of you may know, I have been practicing archery for about a month now, and i got to say i am doing pretty well.
Alright, now you guys tell me of your archery experiences!

I've got a compound bow (which I dearly love.) Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to shoot it lately.

I'm pretty good with a fiberglass bow but I am working on building my own wooden one.

i am working on my own self bow (yew longbow, 6ft in length with a 31or 32" draw) just waiting till october when the wood will have seasoned enough to make it.

Got three bows, confident in fletching arrows as well as dealing with the bows, I'd be confident in hitting up to about 60 yards accurately at the moment

No one's ready to go hunting after a few months of practising on still targets. It takes years of training on irregularly moving targets. Also, the whole "clean kill" where the animal goes down without a sound is a utopia. Are you ready to run for hours through rough terrain while tracking down a bleeding deer, knowing full well that that animal's last moments in life are spent in intense pain and terror?

That said, I've been practising irregularly for a few years, but haven't for a while since my last bow broke and I must get a new one (and new arrows). I'll go for an asian recurve bow of some sort this time (had a european longbow before), because I like the look of them and they're sometimes smaller - less bow to store.

But I meant to do this thread more as a sorta fun thread because im interested in who ever already had done some archery.
Ofcourse that doesnt mean you are already ready to hunt

its teh same with using snares (well the end of life bit) i thought a rabbit was dead, little bastard shredded my hand before i could kill it with my knife.

and if you cant deal with the fact that an animals last moments will be terrifying for it as well as painful, if you can handle the fact that you will hold the power of life and death over a creature that never did you any harm then there is no point in you being here, being a friend to the animals in this tribe will not be a good trait

im not saying be a heartless bastard (unfortunately for me i am one) but you cant dwell on what you have done.

thats seems really contradictory of what you seem to do (with all the outdoors stuff) I dont like it either but i dont dwell on the fact that ive done it was more of the thing i was going for

Well I'm a nope for now but I am starting in 3 weeks, should be good. With any luck I'll be competent eventually soon (in the spirit of being more optimistic, bit of a pessimist here ).

As with anything practise makes perfect... well nearly perfect, although the problem I find is that I don't know about everybody else but I can't practise in my garden (because it's small)
