So, I figured it be cool if people listed anime they like. Give the name, and a short synopsis or explanation. Example, and first:

Mushishi: Follows a pretty chill dude called Gingko around semi-medieval Japan, as he collects or helps people deal with these weird things called Mushi. They're sort of like insects, but closer to life itself. It's a really cool anime, like, really chill. Great soundtrack, very well drawn. I cosplayed as Gingko at the last anime convention I held. Yeah. Check it out.

Clover:

A relatively short manga, I enjoyed it but really for only those who like Clamp.

Eden of the East  ;)

Plot:On November 22, 2010, ten missiles strike against uninhabited areas of Japan, claiming no victims. This apparent terrorist act is referred to as "Careless Monday" and disregarded by most people. The series begins three months later, with a young Japanese woman named Saki Morimi visiting Washington D.C. as part of her graduation trip. When she gets into trouble, a mysterious Japanese man, who introduces himself as Akira Takizawa, helps her through it. The man appears to have no memory and is completely naked, carrying only a gun and a cell phone charged with 8.2 billion yen in digital money.[1] The cell phone has the phrase, noblesse oblige ("nobility obligates" or "noble's obligation" in English), printed on it. While they are coming back to Japan, they learn that a new missile has hit their country.

Thought it was quite good.
[EDIT]At least, the idea behind it, since some (read: a lot) episodes are plain stupid. Haven't watched the movies yet. Before you start: The best of the anime is only the idea behind it, rest quite sucks :P [/EDIT]

I'm watching Eden of the East right now. It's utterly RIDICULOUS. Meaning, I've only seen the first episode.

Yeah, first episode is ridiculous too. Though, actually the whole serie is ridiculous. It's just the idea behind it what makes me think it's quite good. I mean, they could've done the characters better, the first episode could've been way better. Now you've mentioned it, I watched the first episode over, it is Ridiculous. If you really really really don't like it, then stop now. If you might like it then you might want to continue 'cause it keeps going on like this for about a few episodes.

Twelve Kingdoms - Based on a series of young adult novels in Japan, this series follows a girl who has found herself transported into another world. While that isn't exactly an unusual plot for an anime, Twelve Kingdoms approaches it perhaps a bit differently than most. The world that is stumbled into is well detailed, very interesting, and the plot is handled very seriously without much in the way of humorousness, or even exaggerated facial expressions you find in most anime. Sadly, this anime was never finished. At... around episode 35 if I remember, there's a decent conclusion, and then there's another little side plot-ish thing afterward. It ... might get picked up again when the books are done.

Crest of the Stars / Banner of the Stars - Technically these are several different shows... but they're each fairly short, and all are set within the same universe with the same characters. Crest/Banner of the Stars is Space Opera at its finest. It also paints a fairly in depth universe, although this one takes place in space. A young boy, and the son of the president of a world, finds his planet under siege by a foreign force and conquered. This does not, however, become a show about rebellion, as the boy enters into the military of the invading force, where he begins serving aboard military space vessels. You get an interesting culture, another very serious show, and plenty of 'horror of war' put into it, while still not being an overly depressing watch.

Gankutsuou - The Count of Monte Cristo gets a... major make over. If you're familiar with the classic tale you'll get the vague resemblance (including names) that this show has to the original work. However, it is told from the perspective of an entirely different character and is set in the future. Also, don't expect the storyline to follow the original work too closely. That said, it still weaves an interesting and complex tale. Again, serious and lacking in the exaggeration that many anime have (noticing a trend?), but also features a very unusual art style. I would easily say this is one of the most unusual, but beautiful, shows I've ever watched.

Black Cat

Synopsis:

Black Cat is an anime about a Former Elite Assassin who belongs to an organization called Chronos, He decided to change his ways after meeting a few select people. Each member of the Chronos has a unique weapon associated with them, and they are the best of the best when it comes to using that particular weapon. I do a horrible job of explaining the story, but aside from the first few episodes, and a little of the plot, most of it is carefree and light hearted. The show is slightly dark, very funny, and a little crazy at sometimes, but its one of my favorites I highly recommend it.

Eden of the East  is actually quite amusing to me, don't know why people give it a bad review....  ;D

The old Uriuujìn

Code Geass:

Here's the story- Japan gets taken over by the Holy Brittanian Empire. Something like ten years later, an exiled heir to the throne, Lelouch vi Britannia- using the fake name Lelouch Lamperouge- finds a capsule stolen by Rebels. Instead of poison gas, he finds a girl, who gives him the power of Geass. He uses this power to lead a rebellion disguised as the rebel Zero, and wages war on the Britannian Empire.

There are two seasons, and they are both AWESOME!!! Watch them in Japanese w/ subltitles, though, cause that's the most fun ^_^

Elfen Lied

Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. However, soon they notice she might be not as innocent as she first appeared. KICKASS anime..

Gotta love this, this anime is amazing! One of the more gory anime as well, so not for the weak stomach!

Claymore

However, in this world, there is also a mysterious organization, employing half-human, half-Youma warriors to effectively track down and kill the demons. Called "silver eyed witches" or "Claymores" after the huge Claymore swords they carry, these female warriors are eyed with suspicion and distrust by most because of their inhuman powers.
When the young boy Raki meets Clare, a Claymore sent to kill the Youma haunting his hometown, he is eventually caught in a story of love, revenge and treachery, as Clare's past meets with her future...

Eureka Seven

When a large mechanical robot, called the Nirvash typeZERO, and Eureka, its pilot and a member of Gekkostate, crash into Renton's room. Renton's grandfather orders him to deliver a special part to the Nirvash called the "Amita Drive", which releases the immense power dormant within the typeZERO called the "Seven Swell Phenomenon". Afterwards, Renton is invited to join Gekkostate, where he quickly discovers that the behind-the-scenes life of Gekkostate is hardly as glamorous or as interesting as printed in the glossy pages of their magazine, ray=out. Only one thing makes it all worthwhile for him: the presence of Eureka, the mysterious pilot of the Nirvash. Renton, Eureka, and the Gekkostate embark on an adventure that will shape their future as well as the world's.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

The series is set in 2307 AD. As a result of the depletion of fossil fuels, humanity had to search for a new source of power. The power was found in the form of massive arrays of solar power collectors orbiting the Earth, and supported by three orbital elevators, each one serving one of the three "power blocs" on the planet, namely Union, controlling the region surrounding North America, Human Reform League, consisting of China, Russia and India, and AEU, which controls mainland Europe. But then a group called Celestial Being, interferes and acts to stop all conflict using Gundams, killing anyone in their path.

Cowboy Bepop

In 2022, the explosion of an experimental warp gateway caused major damage to the Moon, bathed the Earth with radiation, and left an asteroid ring that threatens the surface with daily meteorite bombardments. As a result, many survivors abandoned the barely-habitable Earth to colonize the inner planets, the asteroid belt and the moons of Jupiter. The crew of the spaceship Bebop are a partnership of bounty hunters, called "cowboys", who travel the Solar System trying to apprehend bounties. Jet Black is the owner of the Bebop, but has partnered with Spike Spiegel for his diverse combat skills. Though he is reluctant to admit it, Jet has also come to rely on Spike for companionship in the normally solitary field of bounty hunting. During its travels, the Bebop gains new crew members, much to the visible annoyance of both Jet and Spike.

Yeah I love space animes....

Hellsing

Plot: Hellsing is named after and centered around the Holy Order of Protestant Knights, originally led by Abraham Van Helsing. The mission of Hellsing is to protect Queen and Country from the undead and other supernatural forces of evil. This organization is currently led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, who inherited the leadership of Hellsing as a child after the death of her father. She is protected by the faithful Hellsing family butler and former Hellsing "trashman," Walter C. Dornez, and Alucard, the original and most powerful vampire that swore loyalty to the Hellsing family after being defeated by Van Helsing one hundred years before the story takes place. These formidable guardians are joined early on in the storyline by former police officer Seras Victoria, whom Alucard turned into a vampire.

As the scale and frequency of incidents involving the undead escalate in England and all around the world, Sir Integra discovers that the remnants of a Nazi group called Millennium still exist and are intent on reviving the Third Reich by creating a battalion of vampires. Millennium, Hellsing, and the Vatican Chapter XIII Iscariot clash in an apocalyptic three-sided war in London, and Millennium reveals its true objective: to destroy the vampire Alucard, ending a feud begun during World War II.

I have too many fav anime to even start listing them to myself, by my current tops are: (I'd put a picture, but I don't know how  :-[ )

Hetalia - The series presents an allegorical interpretation of political and historic events, particularly of the World War II era, in which the various countries are represented by anthropomorphic characters i.e. characters with stereotype characteristics of every country.

Code Geass - Already explained  :)
Vampire Knight - About a girl that's saved by a vampire, from a vampire. Of course, later the plot gets more complicated but...
Loveless - BL anime, about some weird society in which there are Fighters and Sacrifices, unique pairs, and they're supposed to fight in pairs, for yet unknown reasons  :)

But the list of other animes I like is endless, so... I stop here ^___^

Rain

A lot of what I read comes from OneManga.com. I'm currently following Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Perfect Girl Evolution aka The Wallflower), Tsuki no Shippo (Tail of the Moon) and Ai Kora (Love & Collage).
But the one I love the most is Yamato Nadeshiko etc etc. According to the description on OneManga.com, "It's a gorgeous, spacious mansion, and four handsome, fifteen-year-old friends are allowed to live in it for free! There's only one condition-that within three years the guys must transform the owner's wallflower niece into a lady befitting the palace in which they all live! How hard can it be?

Enter Sunako Nakahara, the agoraphobic, horror-movie-loving, pockmark-faced, frizzy-haired, fashion-illiterate recluse who tends to break into explosive nosebleeds whenever she sees anyone attractive. This project is going to take more than our four heroes ever expected: it needs a miracle!"

I like it so much I even wrote a 19 page paper about Manga last semester and included it as a reference and drew a lot of material for it. It's a wonderful comedy and even a short anime, "The Wallflower".
"If there are self-made purgatories, then we shall all have to live in them."

I read and watch it, it's great!

As for Anime movies, I totally adore Hayao Miyazaki's and Studio Ghibli films in general.
My all time favorite is
Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke)
shortly followed by

Grave of the fireflies

That is a movie everybody should see! Beautyful, touching, and very very sad! Whoever said, the death of Bambi's mother was the saddest moment in animated film, he nerver saw Grave of the fireflies!
