I think this could be a great tool for us to learn na'vi.

It allows for online recording of audio (no need to download your own software unless you feel the need to, in which case you can still use it) and, it seems to also automatically set up a podcast on iTunes.

Anyway, to cut to the chase, I'm using it, even if no-one else is, to upload my spoken na'vi, this (or at least the pronunciation on it) is not intended as a learning resource as I know that I make many mistakes (my tx keeps slipping into a retroflex for some reason which then affects vowels following it because I can't always move my tongue quickly enough) although I may try to do some language lessons on there too.

So please, correct me as much as you like on my pronunciation, I know I am far from perfect.

My audioboo profile can be found here. I haven't seen a way to add transcripts of what's being said, but I can provide them if you want and normally they'll be posted on my facebook page lena'vi either as a status or as a note or else will be a relatively na'vi heavy post here on the forum.

Txantsan! I added you in my iTunes, because I seem to have problems on Audioboo itself; via iTunes no problem ;)

You may feel that you have difficulties but I reckon there is no better way of practicing it than simply speak ;)

Y'know, that thought actually DID occur to me. I think it's something that CAN be done with enough help. I've been thinking about posting something here in the forums to recruit people to help me with this project. I'd need a lot of people though, and I'd have to wait until I'm on break from school, but the idea HAS occurred to me.

it was slightly a joke because audioboo has time limits on the files...that causes the divisions of the dictionary to be strange. or you could do word by word but that would be kinda annoying.

Well I was actually thinking of using Audacity. Word for word crossed my mind because I think it would be easier for listening practice because if there's just a couple words that someone is having trouble with, they can play those particular words as many times as they want instead of having to play the whole section of words that start with that letter. Although I suppose they could pause and move the cursor back a little....Idk. This project of mine is still a prrnen :)

dude i did exactly that back in the day, but the language and dictionary expands too quickly...its almost like one is forced to do word by word recording...now why are we talking audacitiy in the audioboo thread? hmmm i can help anyone's audio projects if needed.

'Upxs, sorry! Help from you would be txantsan! I want as many skilled Na'vi speakers as possible because the point of this would be so that people can hear the correct pronunciation of the words and practice the words themselves. As I said before though, this idea is still a prrnen.

If you do end up getting together some recordings, perhaps consider contributing to this...

http://forum.learnnavi.org/audio/peer-reviewed-pronounced-word-list/

It's a bit dead at the moment, perhaps because of lack of contributors, which is probably because of the difficulty of contributing at the moment.
