I've made a video of myself reciting some Na'vi phrases and I'm hoping that you guys will give me some feedback on my pronunciation.

Fun Fact: This is the first video that I've made of myself EVER! I'm kind of embarrassed to post it HRH, but I figure one always looks more goofy to oneself than in general, so here goes:

BTW, If I do another video can I just embed it here, and if so how?

You are doing a good job of speaking  :D  Keep it up!

Neytiri: She will try to kill you.
Jake: Outstanding. *takes out an ikran-catcher and walks through hometree looking for women*

Great! :D I'm impressed by the fact that you master the ejectives (px, tx, kx) and the glottal stops (') very well already. :) They're normally difficult to master for most people! :o

You said you really wanted to get feedback, but really, there's not much to say. ;) Maybe only to take the time to pronounce each sound and not be in a rush when you talk, like you mentioned at some point in the video. :)

Fì'u txantsan nìtxan leiu, ma 'eylan. :D Keep up the awesome work!

DeanD

Irayo ma oeyä eylan.

I've studied several languages and usually pick up pronunciation really well. Now I just have to work on speaking at a natural pace HRH. That, and perhaps stress on the right words and syllables, but hopefully once I learn individual words better that'll improve.

I know what you mean ;)

Sounds quite good. The only minor thing I noticed was stress in oel ngati tslolam, you said tslolam; and the sentence with 'message' is a bit off, I feel there is a syllable missing. You say oel ngaru *pxareti fpole'. It's 'upxare with the glottal stop, so, either you said, 'I sent you messages' so that the lenited (ay)upxare elided with the .u of ngaru or you have to make the uh-oh break and say oel ngaru 'upxareti fpole'

But otherwise, a natural talent! :D

Irayo Plumps! I did place the stress wrong on tslolam, but I didn't know where to place the stress on that word either, so thank you! As for 'upxare, I "tried" to say 'upxareti, but my voice broke, and the 'u didn't come out HRH. I hate when that happens!

Personally, I find that the stress is one of the hardest things to master. :)
So I think it's quite normal that that happened, especially since you've just begun! ;)

DeanD

I'm sitting here trying to say "Oel ngaru 'upxareti fpole'" and yeah, it is pretty tough for me to separate the u of ngaru and the 'u of 'upxare. I can say " 'upxareti fpole' oel ngaru " no problem though, so I think that is most likely how I will say that sentence from now on.

Ftxavanga Txe′lan

Yes, free word order* is one of the good aspects of Na'vi. :D It's just so handy! hrh :)

Oh, mllte tsahu alo azam :P

Especially with words that one memorized the wrong way the first time, one will never get that 'wrong' stress out :(
