The purpose of this thread is to create a list of all the canonical audio clips in one central location.

UPDATED: June 3rd, 2013 :P

You can download the collection of spoken dialog from Dr. Frommer here: http://archive.org/download/FrommerSpokenNavi/FrommerSpokenNavi.zip

Also, here is a listing of individual audio files (for linking to from the forum/wiki/or other websites): http://www.archive.org/details/FrommerSpokenNavi
(had to put it in the code command since the forum keeps auto "correcting" the link to something completely different)

Most of the examples are from Dr. Frommer's Na'vi website: naviteri.org

Thanks to Erimeyz for the original listing of interviews with Frommer

Here is a listing of other audio samples that are embedded in interviews that I couldn't access to add to the above collection:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/art/blog/2009/12/usc-prof-says-youre-speaking-my-language.html
PBS Newshour interview

I forgot to include the time code for the PBS interview:

I've added pointers to the isolated clips to the Audio Corpus section of the Corpus page on the Learn Na'vi wiki: http://wiki.learnnavi.org/

I've also created a Pronunciation Guidance page on the wiki, and included the clips there as well.

Hmmmm, we used to have audio for that but not any more. I don't think we'd legally be allowed to post that, though.

So, I'm going to be updating this shortly. Anyone can help by finding links to audio clips/videos with Karyu Pawl and/or other speakers that are not on Naviteri.org, this will help me double check to make sure I've gotten them all.

Txantsan, ma Ftiafpi!. Updating this useful resource is something that is long overdue, and I think you are very qualified to be doing this.

I'm hoping at some point to combine this, plus our collection of spoken Na'vi words, with the 500 most common Na'vi words work in progress. This way learners can get word samples and phrases with those words to practice. It should be a huge help for pronunciation and listening comprehension.

Agreed, and I can see how these two projects work together.

I just had an interesting idea, especially in that we don't seem to have a lot of luck getting live Na'vi convserations going: Get some of expert speakers together to have a series of scripted conversations. These need not be long-- 2-5 minutes each, on a variety of subjects. Record, them under good conditions,a nd provide the scripts along with the recordings. This could be an excellent tool for helping people get the 'feel' of speaking Na'vi when they don't have an expert they can converse with. Although I am certainly not the world's best Na'vi speaker, I would be willing to help with a project like this. This might be something that could be done during this summer's AvatarMeet.

I've updated the listing in the original post with all of the dialog from Karyu Pawl's website. You can click on the link to download the whole collection of spoken examples from Dr. Frommer. The link in the code box will allow you to download individual files.

There are probably some more running examples from Dr. Frommer around out there, and if anyone has one by all means let me know and I'll add it.

Note: For the examples from his website I've taken the Na'vi words and put it as the title of each sound clip and put the English translation as the artist. This way most MP3 players will scroll through the Na'vi and English translations making it easier to follow along.

:P Fixed, lawl.

I will add those to the collection. The Good Morning America one is especially useful (and an awesome blast from the past).
