Sam Worthington doesn't say much about Avatar 2, but what to be certain, is that ninjas is falling from the sky ;D
lol, Sam, HRH ;D ;D ;D

Avatar star Sam Worthington stuck to talking about the world's largest short film festival, Tropfest, on Sunday saying he couldn't reveal anything about James Cameron's Avatar 2.

'I can tell you Avatar 2 is a Jim Cameron film. That's about it,' he said.

'Anything else, ninjas are going to come from the sky and Jim's people are going to escort me away.' ;D

Aussie actor Magda Szubanski meanwhile claimed she was hoping for a punch-up with the Avatar star .

As one of eight judges at main event for Tropfest at The Domain in Sydney on Sunday night, Szubanski revealed it's usually pretty self evident who the winner is but sometimes there's a bit of a tussle.

Before the event the Kath and Kim actress said 'I'm hoping there might be a bit of a punch-on,'.

'I'm going to take on Sam Worthington I reckon. Avatar or not, it's on.

'Him in the blue corner, no maybe him in the red, me in the blue. He must be over the blue thing by now. He's done that.

Jim is still working on the sequels to Avatar, he is still working on the scripts, and he tells that the release date will be told as soon as the scripts has been finished.

The eternal wait for a return journey to Pandora continues. But "Avatar" fans, just know that James Cameron is hard at work on the script that will follow up his 2009 sci-fi mega-blockbuster.
Cameron, the writer-director-producer of reigning box office champion "Avatar," recently talked with the website Play Goes Strong, revealing that he's currently in New Zealand working on writing "Avatar 2" and "Avatar 3." "I'm writing on a little farm. When you live in a special world like Pandora, you have to live in that world," he said.
"There is that startup torque where you feel it's coming to you," Cameron said of his work on the scripts. "Then you build up momentum. That's when it gets fun. The characters talk and it's writing itself. I'm almost there right now. It's building fast."
Cameron also recalled a recent conversation with "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson. "You had it easy dude," Cameron told him. "You had the books when you did the second and third Lord of the Rings. I have to create my own books in my head and extract a script from it."
'Once Upon a Time' book launch
As Cameron is tasked with creating the follow-up to a film that took the world by storm three years ago and broke his own previous record for highest-grossing movie ever, one would of course think he's feeling an incredible amount of pressure right now. Not so, said Cameron:
"Pressure? No. It's a little daunting because sequels are always tricky. You have to be surprising and stay ahead of audience anticipation. At the same time, you have to massage their feet with things that they know and love about the first film. I've walked that line in the past, so I'm not too worried about it. At the same time, I definitely have to deliver the goods."
But how long is all this isolation on this ranch going to take? No update on that or how long Cameron expects production on the sequels to take.

"As for a release date that will be determined by when I get the script out," he said.

Avatar Sequels May Utilize Underwater Performance-Capture

IGN NEWS:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/08/avatar-sequels-may-utilize-underwater-performance-capture

Avatar producer Jon Landau was the keynote speaker at Sunday's NAB Technology Summit on Cinema in Las Vegas, during which time he revealed some of the filming plans in store for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3.

“We have kept a team of digital artists on from Avatar in order to test how we can create performance capture underwater,” said Landau, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “We could simulate water [in computer graphics] but we can't simulate the actor's experience so we are going to capture performance in a tank.”

Avatar director James Cameron, an avid diver and underwater documentarian, has long hinted that the sequels will take viewers beneath the oceans of Pandora. Said Landau, "We want to take advantage of the technology that people are putting out there to make the next two movies more engaging and visually tantalizing, and wrap up the story arc of our two main characters."

Landau said that Cameron and Co. are exploring the option of filming the Avatar sequels in the higher-frame rate of 48 fps a la The Hobbit, but that no decision has been made. He did, however, call 48 frames "a better experience for the audience."

What is certain is that the Avatar sequels will be shot in 3D, a format most popular with lucrative, emerging markets overseas.

So now we are sure that one sequel will be about oceans and water world. Can someone make time to run faster to see it early? :D

Apparently Zoë Saldana had something to say yesterday on the next films. Nothing we haven't really heard before, though.

Irayo, Marki, for posting the news anyway.
Always good to hear from Zoe (and now of course she's busy promoting the Star Trek film so of course we're hearing more from her).
As I suspected, JC is likely finishing up writing the script(s) as we speak...and most likely Avatar 2 will start filming early next year.
Then I guess we can expect Avatar 2 to be released in 2015, and Avatar 3 in 2016.
Your love shines the way into paradise.

Avatar 2 is coming. Jon Landau has seen a test footage that has been screened.

http://www.slashfilm.com/avatar-2-test-footage-screened-at-siggraph/

For years, James Cameron and Jon Landau have continued to assure the public Avatar 2 is coming. The writer/director has been locked away working on the script and the producer has been out and about giving us brief updates. This week, for the first time, Landau came out in public and showed some test footage for the film. It showed a “noticeable improvement” in the virtual camera techniques, with higher quality output in a scene that featured a human and Na’vi walking on the surface of Pandora.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote about the presentation, which took place at the Autodesk Users Group event during Siggraph, a conference for computer graphics.
Landau had to stress this test footage was from several months ago and not quite at the technical level they’re striving for. Once Cameron begins filming (which is rumored to start early next year), the result will look better than the currently raw test footage.

Here’s a brief description from THR:
Quote
He then showed a series of clips, starting with a live capture created on a stage last November, which was set on Pandora and featured a human as well as the Na’vi.
“This was our first foray into what we wanted to do,” Landau told the audience,
pointing to noticeable improvements in aspects of the image including lighting and shadows.

Quote
The next examples came out of Autodesk’s virtual production software Motion Builder,
and again showed a notable advancement in quality. “Ultimately our goal is to get to this on stage [for live capture],” he said.
“This is going to allow Jim to light the scenes and make the process more efficient … and focus on what is most important—the close up.
Movies about storytelling.”
