Well, it's now past the 1st of the new year, so hopefully work/filming/principal photography has officially started on the sequel films (??)...or will be starting very soon (?)

Latest info from several industry sources is that filming will begin in April of this year. Those are just reports, not something officially from LEI or Fox. -M.

You all have waited for a super long time (I finded out that there would be another Av in Spring 2015) but i'm looking forward it very much because Hey, it's our Iron James. Even if it was half good as first Av, it would still be very good film.

btw I've found a article where is much more information about sequels and J.C ideas on the 'Avatar universe' and yes, we can call it 'universe' because in article is quoted Cameron saying that he has too much story to tell.

Some sources say 'summer 2018'. That's good for cosplay & AvatarMeet, hope Cameron make it on time or one year later, not in winter.
It's nice that Cameron plan to make more Avatars, but I'll rather like to see 2 longer movies (split in half like Kill Bill) than 4 different stories.
I'm waiting for first leakages from filming of info from actors that they started.

Just realized, if Avatar 2 is coming out in 2018, surely he must be filming now?

OK, I had an idea a while back, it's about time I shared it. I had this idea while writing my Avatar3 fanfic.
Here goes .....

This is for filming realistic interactions between humans and Na'vi/Avatars.
Film the two performances in separated locations, but simultaneously.
The humans are filmed and shown live on a monitor with the Na'vi/Avatars.
The Na'vi/Avatars are filmed and shown live on a monitor with the humans.
The images are shown at an appropriate scale, the humans see the performance at Na'vi/Avatar's true height (nine to ten feet tall) the Na'vi and Avatars see the humans at around three feet high. The monitors are motorized, with speeds set to allow for the different leg lengths of humans and Na'vi/Avatars.
Humans need to walk much further and faster to keep up!
Differently scaled props could be attached to the screens (in holders?) to allow them to pass the items back and forward as necessary.
Sets and volume objects would need to be scaled appropriately, e.g. a fallen tree trunk may be two and a half feet high for a human, but only eighteen inches for the actor playing the Na'vi/Avatar. And so on.
The monitors would want a speaker built in to enhance the natural reactions of the actors. IMHO.
An enhanced version could feature a camera mounted that can travel in two dimensions over the screen, to allow for actors squatting, sitting, jumping, etc. to get more accurate visual feed back to their performance.
