Avatar came out of nowhere, and had the decks stacked against it (compared to Endgame - especially in China) but Cameron did it, and broke his own record.

Endgame had a huge following, and was the massive conclusion to a huge series of movies (I can't think of anything that compares to the run up for Endgame).

Avatar2 is one of the most eagerly awaited movies in the history of cinema (so no pressure there) so unless it's a total disaster, it's automatically in with a shot at getting the crown back for Avatar and for Cameron.

What worries me is that the new Star Wars movies should have been a guaranteed dead cert license to print money. I mean, Star Wars, what could possibly go wrong?
Unexpected cataclysmic failures can happen.
But Cameron isn't Kathleen Kennedy, in fact Kathleen Kennedy isn't fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as the person who unblocks the drains on Avatar2. IMHO.

With many movies now facing delays due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I am concerned that Avatar 2 may be delayed again. Not that I have seen any news about it so far.
