So Avatar 2 should be in 2014-2015

At the Oscars in the interwiev Cameron said that production of Avatar 2 he needs 3 years. And at this moment he isn't working on the sequel ;/ We must be patient

2012 is impossible ;/

He can work on multiple projects at the same time. I'd be shocked if FOX didn't do their best to encourage him to start asap.

imo your probably correct, release around 2013-2014 feels about right.
2012 not totally impossible, but sounds too rushed.
I want another masterpiece, not something that's lashed up quickly just to please foxes suits. (déjà vu, I've said this before)

Rumours (remember just rumours) told that even though James Cameron has started on some other movie, can't remember which. Production for Avatar 2 has started.... well not like the actualy filming but the props and such.
Also rumoured that the storyline will be an all out TOTAL WAR between the Na'vi and some ... {human race}? (not sure what against yet)

Most likely it'll be out late 2012 like September to December when the end of the world will occur 'OOO scary'

Mainly from online blogs and a few movie-dedicated sites. Not sure wether you can trust them though, but in one of the site it does say that Fox are eager to get Cameron on the sequel, and in the meantime Fox had started the pre-production. I'll see if I can find the right site and post the link here, although it'll be a while.

Honestly, I'm extremely glad that it will take that amount of time, because that places the production of Avatar 3 to be 2014-2016.  As I mentioned in another forum, I'm going to see if I can get in the movie orchestra for the movies (third one most likely, due to timing), and this will give me enough time to work on my skillz (yes, with a "z") and chops so I can get the gig.

You're right there! But I reckon No-one would want to wait 10 years or even a 100 to make Avatar 2 perfect
