Diversity in Pandora's Biomes and the Na'vi
« on: September 22, 2018, 05:52:40 pm »
So, I live in Arizona.  And that got me thinking about how little we know about Pandora.  The forest inhabited by our Omatacaya was - although beautiful and enormous and glowing - simply a rainforest.  And we know that there is a Tribe in the Plains and on the cliffs to the Sea.  And we know that there is an entire underwater world that is going to be explored in future films.

So Pandora is a vast, Earth-like world with a variety of biomes to be explored.  So that brought me to my own familiar hellscape of the desert (and its glorious opposite in the Arctic).  What are tour thoughts on other biomes on Pandora?  Are there deserts and tundras and conifer forests?  And how would these other living conditions effect the Na'vi race?  Obviously here in Earth we have different skin pigments and tones and different languages and accents - is that something you believe might have developed across Pandora?  Why or why not?

*please note this is just a friendly discussion.  Nothing here needs to be taken offensively or as canon truth.  We are speculating and guessing bases on the limited knowledge we have.

IMO since it's a movie it will look a lot like Earth but in a more impressive way

Pretty much this.  I have a feeling that deserts, plains, mountains, oceans, rivers, lakes, most if not all of the same geographic features might also exist on Pandora.

Yeah, exactly this. It would be strange if all these geographic features was not on Pandora too.

Any external factor (from space and/or from the exomoon itself) could prevent XYZ to be present, but again it's a movie.

I touched on this ever so briefly in a fanfic of mine, Machine .....

a Na'vi male, huge, paler in color and with fewer narrower stripes than he'd expected.

..... and .....

Behind the chair were two Jake Sully's, both in avatar form, that wasn't right. One had partially healed scaring down the right hand side of his face, beside him was a male native, quite eleven feet tall, with paler skin than either of the two Jake's, and more pronounced musculature than the female Na'vi standing close to the uninjured Jake, he assumed correctly that this was Jake's woman, but while he had heard it, her name eluded him.

I never really took this character very far in the fic, but he was Na'vi of a northern tribe, kinda like a Na'vi Stoic the Vast.
The Dragon Affair my current fanfic - now complete.

The Dragons Clutch, my last fanfic, non Avatar related.

Machine, my last Avatar related fanfic.
