I would think that the you would need other clans to keep genepools mixed. Going back to the whole "Earth as the mother" thing i think it would make sense because were Jake and Neytiri make tsahalu (not spelled right sry) the trees around them have the memories of children. you can hear their laughter. Possibly there are "souls", or energy, made by the prayers of the Na'vi population. When two Na'vi join for life their combined minds could make the soul grow from one of those willow looking trees. So when the RDA destroyed the site it would make sense that Grace would say that the site was extremely sacred to them. It was their connection to making the souls into Na'vi. Of course if this is true then that would mean the Omitikaya people would have to find or make a new site of Soul Trees.

I think this would be really amazing to see in the sequal.

Jake: How will I know if she chooses me?
Neytiri: She will try to kill you.
Jake: Outstanding. *takes out an ikran-catcher and walks through hometree looking for women*

Um, no, I don't remember that... are you sure you're not doing what I did and confusing her speaking Na'vi for English?

Yeah - at one point I thought "Ke slayu nga Na'viyä hapxì!" was "Curse you! You not Na'vi you're a pig!" I was wondering where she'd got "pig" from...

maybe because she fell in love and mated with a man who not truly Na'vi at first. then Jake caused a fight within the clan, and she fought to protect him from her ex.

What's that "maybe" in response to? I'm confused now...

the reason why Neytiri cursed him and called him a pig

Oh, no, she didn't, that was my point - she was actually speaking Na'vi but my brain put English to it.

ok what do you think about the jake's status in the clan?
Eywa Ngahu Smukan si Smuke.

Muzer

Well, in the original script, in Tsu'teyä death scene he makes Jake olo'eyktan, I think (I'll have to reread it, I seem to remember that is what happens though).

It is true that in the older script that Tsu'teyä tìkerusey is different, and that he himself hands the responsibility of olo'eyktan over to Jakesully.  There, Wainfleet cuts off his tsaheylu, and when Jake finds him, Tsu'tey mentions that he has lost his bonding ability, and would rather perish than live in agony.

Yeah, I knew that about cutting off his queue - I'm trying to type as little as possible at the moment, as I've switched to Dvorak after not using it for a while so I'm a bit slow. Should soon get faster though... and this is only my netbook, my desktop is still QWERTY.

My thoughts are that since Jake and Neytiri were mated, and Tsu'tey died, Neytiri's role as future Tsahik kinda-sorta meant that her mate will become Olo'eyktan. Kind of like "you want me, you take my mate too". Also, it's possible that Mo'at made the decision to make Jake Olo'eyktan and also broached it to the rest of the Omatikaya. Maybe she sanctioned it, sort of gave them her blessing?

Weird question: Does anyone else think that the "mated pair" leaders absolutely HAD to be mated? What I'm getting at is, when Eytukan died, was there some kind of "understood relationship" between Mo'at and Tsu'tey? I personally don't think so. I think that when the Olo'eyktan dies and his mate is left alive, he/she continues to fill his/her role until death. Therefore, Mo'at will continue to be Tsahik until she either passes the torch to Neytiri or dies.

I can agree with that. i think it like the a king and queen of a country, but i think Mo'at will pass her duties to Neytiri and become clan elder adviser.

Good, I made some sense. I had posted that and immediately thought "wow, I probably sound like an idiot."

Okay, back to the kiddies! Anyone think it's possible to be eight-toed and ten-fingered? Or vice versa? Yay, talking genetics...
