Are they wearing Exo-Packs? If they are, that is quite sad.

Who cares? You could always have some simuSEX to cheer up! Or drink light-bear or buy some new blue-jeans.

Having to wear exosuits would s**k. It could actually happen with the way we are going.

For a sequel, it could be that the demons or Humans would come back to Pandora for revenge and take the whole planet or something.
It would be cool if Trudy was still alive, cause she always dies in almost every movie.

For the first film, I like the way they give the audience a chance to feel connected to the Na'vi.

I think a sequel that does not continue with furthering a connection to the Na'vi, or for that matter does not help the audience to connect better with the human cast, may fail to provide an understable motivation for the arc to continue.

As for inbound flights to Pandora.  Considering the travel time, the next film has two possibilities, a rotation is on route probably unaware of what has occurred (a communications message could fix that), or there will not be another influx of new humans from earth till movie three.

In just 12 days of being out, the movie is already at almost $730 million worldwide!

That's almost half more than what was spent on the entire movie and everything else associated with it.

More than that, today my bro and my father tried to go see it... it's wednesday, 5:40 PM - ALL SOLD OUT. Yesterday I went with a friend: we could only get tickets to 11:40pm showtime, and even then the auditorium was completely packed. We were lucky that we came early, otherwise we'd have no seats.

Need we guess more whether or not there will be sequels?
Is this right? I just write whatever in the signature box?

Money is undeniably a driving force in triggering sequels.  Since it is pretty clear that Cameron had the interest, the rest would be a formality of tangible actions.

However, plenty of successful movies have gone without a single sequel being made, even from James.  This makes the question of the possibility still valid, at least until something has been officially announced or started.   ;D

Guys, actually, I read on wikipedia (I know, not the best source) that the story arc Cameron developed itself is large enough for 2 sequels. That means he already has the story ready! (right?) That's awsome because many times sequels hastily written to milk a franchise s**k. I love the idea of Jake and Neytiri continuing their lifestory! Come to think of it, what happened to them? Shouldn't Jake have become the olo'eyktan (clan leader)? He was toruk makto, and he's mated to Neytiri. Not to mention both of the current olo'eyktans died in the first movie. If there's a ten-year gap in the story, shouldn't he have kids or something? How fast do Na'vi children mature? The avatars matured in under 5 years! Granted, that could have easily been technologically influenced...

I'm happy. ^.^  ;D :D ;D

A communications message to a ship travelling those speeds and distances is actually quite hard to do, since the route is not a straight line you need to know the ships position and speed and then get the message to arrive at that point the same moment the ship is there. If for instance there is a ship that's 4 years in from the around 6 year journey, they would be on pandora by the time the message reaches them, unless they can send messages at greater speeds than the speed of light. Not to mention the fact that a message sent from pandora takes about 4.37 years to reach Earth so the RDA won't be aware of the missions failure for quite a while.

Speculating from the fact that there are 12 ships travelling between Earth and Pandora, it's quite likely that at least one reaches Pandora without knowing what had happened there. An interesting plot point if there are any new avatars on-board.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

I was reading project 88 footnotes and story summary http://chud.com/articles/articles/21969/1/PROJECT-880-THE-AVATAR-THAT-ALMOST-WAS/Page1.html

There seems to be enough extra story from that for there to be at least one extra movie and for it to still be great. I would love to see the rest of that article from the begining of the start of this post string. A trilogy would be great ifCameron doesn't get rid of Jake and Neitiri. Maybe they did have a child, maybe the rodriguez character did survive. Also, maybe the ships the companny uses have a long range instant messaging laser so it will get there in less time. who knows? I personally would like to see more bio diversity in the pandoran world they live. they also need to explain the floating mountains. and why some of the things are sacred instead of just saying they are sacred. Plus there are more than one clan in the pandoran society. Maybe there will be a civil war of sorts over dwindiling food supply dueto the previous human presence that may have upset the balance of the pandoran food chain. Lots of ways they could go with this. and thay don't even have to visit another world to do that.

There could be a fight over human tech since that base was abandoned.

As for a sequel, James already had commented on wanting to do one, if he hadn't said anything then we should be worried.

Nice link tho.
