And should it still be called Avatar 2 because of that?
:-\

Short answer is, yes he is still an Avatar. An Avatar is a hybrid species different from both Na'vi and human so he doesn't magically turn na'vi from getting transferred to the Avatar.

So now he IS an avatar. But still, then he's not really an avatar, because you can't control his body from the outside, like you can with an avatar.  :P
Which leads me again to: what would it be called? An avatar which has it's own life? An avatar which cannot be controlled? A Na'vi with 5 fingers and toes on each hand/foot?  :-\
This is complicated.  ???

I bet he could synch now with his human body if it isn't suffocated already. That would make him still an Avatar.

Spot on really... he is still an Avatar.

I doubt... they'll forget the Avatar name... Like someone stated above... it would be Avatar: "......"
I mean take a look at Lord of the rings... something like that :)

Althought very intrested to know the title...there is no way we will know the title now or in months time maybe?

Being shot like that could have caused Norm to lose consiousness and therefore lose the connection with his Avatar. If somebody finds his Avatar's body in time it very well could be used realistically in Avatar II. So thats just one of many ways they could save the "Avatar" name.

So long as they don't go the way of Star Wars and make the end three and then decide to make three prequels to the first movie of the second trilogy.

But as far as Norm goes, it seems that the human drivers could still feel pain in the sync pod, perhaps there is some sort if a 'panic' button inside the pod, or if the driver's heartrate exceeds or drops below a certain level it severs the connection with the Avatar, but who knows.

So long as the stories stay good, I don't care how many they make! Though it gets harder and harder to keep making good stories the more you make. Just look at the Tarzan books!

Yea, the longer you make a series of movies, the harder it gets to create an original storyline.

Take the Pirates of the Carribean series, it'd be a stretch, but you can almost loop the end of the third movie back to the first movie.

Did you hear they're making a 4th? But we seem to be straying from the topic a bit here.

Wait.......a fourth movie......sorry for getting off topic, but they are really grasping at straws with continuting the series. Eh, i'm not gonna worry, it couldn't compete with Avatar. Beside the third movie kinda turned a few people off to the series.

I posted in a different place that it'd most likely be Avatar II. I don't see the point in exceeding Avatar III with Avatar IV.

I agree that the next one will more than likely be "Avatar II". Also, I don't care how many movies they make, but once they run out of material (which will probably be after 3) then they need to STOP!! No point in running the franchise into the ground.

If a plane begins to plummet towards the ground do you stop trying to pilot it?

Well, with Avatar it wouldn't be a life or death situation, so no (IMO).

Well, there is a point at which a movie series needs to die, and with Pirates it's already come, but as far as Avatar goes, the possibilities are in fact, nearly endless.

So far, the second one is most likely going to be back on Pandora, Cameron said so. For a third one they could either stay on Pandora again, or either somehow go to Earth or another planet in the Alpha Centauri system, most likely another moon of Polyphemus.

Just so long as there's Na'vi, I'm pretty much cool with anything (to an extent).

That would be cool, except for the title, people would complain about it being to close to Aliens: Resurrection.

Considering the main theme of Avatar being "waking up" and the movie beginning and ending with the character opening his eyes I think it should be Avatar: Uniltìranyu (Avatar: Dreamwalker). There are also many more people (i.e. Selfridge) that could be given more character depth in the story arc.
