Thats always what happens though, whenever some fill-in-your-favorite-non-white-race-or-alien-species-here, kicks the white man out of an area or off a planet, the ALWAYS come back with bigger and better weaponry at some point during the series.

true, but maybe Cameron will be the first to come up with a completely original idea.

i think that in the second movie, the humans going to return to pandora, is very oviously, thinking like a human, and jake will have to teach the na'vis of the human culture, taking care to dont mdify the Na'vi culture, because if the na'vis dont empty their cup, the na'vis will die. ;D bang bang bang  :P gun shoots,

because in another way the history may be boring, they lives happy and together. dhaa.

Quaritch would be my last choice unless redeemed in some way.  I would like to see Trudy be thrown clear of the helicopter.  I would like to see Tsu'tey break his fall to the ground & be healed.  I would like to see an avatar body be grown for Grace in the lab from dna on file, and her consciousness be transferred into it from Eywa/oneness with the sacred Tree, and have her exhibit abilities of a Tsahìk.   For starters.

Beautiful & inspiring.  Lots of new characters, everyday life in paradise.  People being creative, being inspired, living among beautiful plant & animal species.  Lots of positive imagery, healing to the subconscious mind.  How has Eywa's answer to Jake's prayer caused life in nature to change?

I think that if Grace came back in that way Tanhì Atan described, it would be awesome.  Not only would she be the scientist ans teacher that all the Na'vi people know, but now that she BELIEVES that Eywa exists, it will make her just that much more awesome.  If anyone got into the Na'vi culture near, as much, or more than Jake, it was Grace.

Thats a wicked idea, I wouldn't want Quaritch returning, It's too shabby, one of the things that ruined Alien 4. I want more Character and Pandoran development!

Tsu'tey is the only character, after you see the extended cut of the movie or read the 2007 scriptment that is for sure, dead. Quartich probablt will stay dead, but Trudy and maybe Grace could return.

Oooh, resurrection! I liked Grace and Trudy as characters, but I never have been a big fan of comebacks...

i would like to see Grace come back. If they show more Na'vi culture maybe they will reveal a way to bring her back through Eywa. that would be neat.

Eyamsiyu

The only character that I see coming back at all is Grace.  Though her body died, her consciousness is alive through Eywa.  Trudy got show down, Quaritch got skewered by two toxic arrows, and Tsu'tey (in accordance to the movie) is presumed dead by gunshot and/or fatal crash landing.

I don't think Grace will be coming back in a Na'vi body though, and here;s my reasoning.

When the RDA "destroyed" the Trees of Voices, there was one small sapling that survived.  I would bet that it grows back (I'm assuming a LOT faster than on Earth), and at times, Jake will consult Grace as an "ancestor" for advice on... whatever happens in the next movie.  THAT'S my guess.  But I could be wrong.

Quite an intriguing thought that maybe you could communicate through the tree of voices not only with your ancestors, but with other people's and people before you....

Anyone have any tickets to Pandora for sale? :(

I like that idea.

OK.  For the plot, Tsu'tey and Eytukan  :'( had to be killed in battle due to no fault of Jake for him to be able to lead in an open field and win Neytiri.

I suppose it's obvious that Grace's smoking did not facilitate her healing and the transfer of consciousness ritual..   But she had an epiphany.  A marine fights for peace and diversity, and a scientist becomes open to spiritual realities.  Both transformational experiences.  Both happen on Earth.  Deepening of character.  I would like to see greater depth of characterization in future Avatar movieS.  Perhaps several new characters like Eytukan & Moat, also not being stereotypical Elders, but with specific strengths, personal elements and aspects of genius.  Norm has potential too.  Perhaps he could communicate with his mentor through the Pandoran Nature connection.  Perhaps we could explore more about shamanic hierarchies of inner wisdom.  There are some words that are very invocative:  Uniltaron.  Dream hunt.  Like a Vision Quest perhaps?  Tirea Fya'o Spirit Path.  Tireaioang Spirit Animal.  Like totem animals, spirit guides, perhaps, with paths for those Na'vi following the symbolic strengths of each species of spirit animal.  If Jake's prayer to Eywa and Grace's consciousness heightened the connection between Pandoran animal species and the Na'vi, it could facilitate the understanding of the humans who stayed of whole lines of empathic communication similar to Tsahaylu between the plants and animals and Na'vi, and also could provide Initiatory Paths and mystical alien visions.  Well, all of Avatar is a mystical alien vision, isn't it?   :)

Now I know this isn't a thread for fanfic's but I believe after reading through it that this story could be a full script for Avatar 2. It has everything in here that has been wanted by this thread for a sequel. It has kids, it has Earth, it has a great story and good characters and delves into a lot of possibilities not discussed on this thread. There is only a few typo's, but what do you expect? Now there are only 4 chapters but each chapter is about 17k words per, so it's long. A good read and I think a good Avatar 2.

Here's a twist in plot for all of you. Grace's conscious is still alive within Eywa, so how EPIC would it be for Neytiri and Jake to have a kid and it ends up being Grace's spirit?

I don't remember there being anything about "reincarnation."  And I'm pretty sure that once a being dies and goes to Eywa, they are there forever.  How else can the Na'vi hear their ancestors?

Sorry to bash your theory man, because I think that would be awesome.  It is just not ideal.

Isn't it likely that the story will revolve around some kind of virus or something the humans brought?  A thing that really kills sequesl like with PoTC is how they end a plot and start a new one in the sequel.  A continual story is epic.  Instead of merely ending one story with the guys and starting another with the same people, they should make something that can carry on sequel to sequel.  Or else they could do a prequel.  First days of humanity on pandora? hope not.  I'd like to see some of the daily life of Na'vi, like how they hunt, it was pretty vague in the first movie other than cover, shooting the arrow, and the special... prayer i guess?  Another neat thing could be like Jake and Neytiri having to fight nature to save themselves, like they were lostt somewhere?  It may also be like Na'vi on Earth, although I can't tell if it would be good or bad.  One thing I'd like to see in ava2 is Na'vi playing ice hockey with nuclear pineapples!!!! The opposing team would be made of radioactive football squirrels!!!!!!! heheheh... this is r my roflcopter it go soi soi soi soi soi soi soi soi... this is r my roflknife it go sliec sliec sliec sliec sliec

Firstly, a pandemic type storyline is a good idea, but maybe a little simple and predictable.

Secondly, I actually wrote a short prequel for some coursework about Jake Sully before he lost the use of his legs and how he managed to lose them. It was incredibly fun as my imagination just poured itself onto paper.

Lastly, I've seen too much Arby 'n' the Chief to not laugh at that.

Well, JC said there was going to be more about the culture of the Na'vi in the sequel, which has been something I have been looking forward to for quite some time.

Stephen Lang comes back, not as Miles Quaritch, but his identical twin brother, Kelvin Quaritch, hell bent on avenging his dead brother!

LOL ;D

Reading the asg, ISV Venture star is one of ten vehicles that travel to pandora and back.
So if we take all this literally then the next ISV will arrive 12 months and 5 days after the first movie ends.
The tawtute on board will have no way of knowing what has happened until they reanimate at Pandora.
Hell's gate is effectively lost to them.
They only have the equipment they have or can manufacture on board.
They'll get a total wupping on the surface, or nuke the planet from orbit.
Potentially a lousy movie either way.

Or we can re-wright the canon a bit with some narrative causality.
There would only be two ISV's, and a prep for a mission from earth would begin as soon as Pandora was lost.
Months of reorganizing the mission, a 5 years 9 months and 22 day delay, then let battle commence.

Na'vi on earth....
Male Avatars lack the structure at the base of their ribcage that Na'vi males have.
Possibly the result of mixing in human DNA, but possibly humans don't have male Na'vi genetic material.
There would have been missions sent to Pandora, samples taken...
Pandora based exoboilogy must have developed on earth from those samples.

Just suppose those samples included a live Na'vi, (possibly female to fit the above) probably a child to fit into a human sized cryo unit.
Capturing her would not be easy, the humans may not have been gentle, probably injured during her capture, and with no medical experience she would have suffered badly.
She would have been on earth many years, kept at a research facility.
Would undoubtedly have learned to speak English and found that some humans were nicer to her than others.
She'd have preferred humans, and some humans would inevitably become close to her. So friends, of sorts.
She'd probably be a close follower of all that happens on Pandora.
Pasha, an Avatar story, my most recent fanfic, Avatar related, now complete.

The Dragon Affair my last fanfic, non Avatar related.
