Movie replicas, action figures.

So my dad and I have talked it over and we have decided that whewn we have enough money, we will make a working R/C RDA Scorpion Gunship. It will have all of the functions as the movie Gunship. We may use the plastic action figure sold in stores provided that we scale it a little larger by adding sections. Making the blades turn off of one large motor in the center of the ship wouldn't be too hard. Just use differentials between the two rotors on each side and a larger differential going to each tilt rotor. The smaller differentials would be to make the blades travel in opposite directions. In the movie and on the replica, they have 4 rotor sets. Two sets sandwiched together. Put a differential between those sandwiched blades and they turn in opposite directions at the same RPM's. No need for a rotor because the oppostie direction of the torque cancels itself out on both sides. Then all you would have to do is add something to adjust the pitch inside each tilt rotor housing. Getting the Tilt rotors to tilt would require sepperate servos for each arm for yaw and forward/backward travel. Roll is another story. You need to make a program in the controller that will tell the pitch to slacken on one side and increase on the other when you tell it to roll. That way, one tilt rotor will be generating more power while the other will make less causing the whole thing to pivot on its z-axis.

No. Mine will not be a waste of money on cheap styrafoam. It will be stable and you don't have a 10 second recarge time so that the battery goes flat in a minute. In ideal conditions, with the setup I want to do, I could have it hover in the same spot for half an hour and if I set it up perfectly on trim and pitch and things like it, I could flip a switch and have the gyro keep it in place and walk away. Ideal conditions being no wind whatsoever, which will never happen where I live)

Sounds ambitious but doable. let us know how it turns out.
