Let me know about the Noble Collection stuff. I've researched them a little and seems like people have had trouble with them in the past. The merch looks fantastic but I'm a little skeptical about getting it. If it's on eBay, maybe.

I locked in my pre-order of the Neytiri bust, and I'm glad because 1) it was from TFAW for $56, and 2) they're already out of stock at that site and a few other sites. I just wish they'd say how big the thing is. I'm assuming it won't be very big, but I'd still like to know.

What's kind of funny about that bust is that I'll probably own the movie before the bust gets shipped.

We talked about this in the chat, and agreed that they are likely cast resin. While this means you could handle and share them, they are only props. You can't put an edge on them or take them camping haha.

no the knives are not useable, they dont even have an edge, unfortunately. So far i did get word that the chokers and armband are wearable items. They were made fit fer human use, which is good cause i ordered all the chokers and the one armband. I didnt even get charged as much im paying 100 bux total for everything with 18 fer shipping. n.n i called them and chatted with them, got a real good deal! Tho i could barely understand my representative >.<

Now i really want that pendant that grace is wearing . . . . or what the Na'Vi use to symbolise Eywa . . . . .

Don't get me wrong: the Noble collection makes outstanding quality replicas. It's worth the extra money. i own several pieces from the Noble collection from lord of the rings. Save up and you won't be disappointed.

Nothing says you can't amke a replica of your own. I've already ordered mine and have a preliminary set of drawings that i will use to make my own replica. **waits impatiently for Fedex**

well supposedly they are not supposed to ship till about feb 28th . . :( I ordered the chockers the night i seen the movie and im wating for them to come in. The representative told me they could ship out as soon as of the 28th this month, but the daggers are supposed to ship around the 28th of feb. I find it annoying myself . . . . but hey it would be awesome to be able to fasion something similar to those dimensions. Tho fer 100 bux those things better not be made of a cast resin . . . . .

This is why I need some source of income: I already know that Jake's jewelry and his knife are things I'm getting.

I haven't checked through this to see if it's been brought up, but:

Hey I'm not sure how artistic you all are. But managed to make a similar necklace to the one of Neytiris. I don't like the clear look of the beads on the replica...no where in the movie do the beads looks like glass or in anyway transparent. So i used some rocks and some hemp and here is what i have. I will be working on one that looks like Jakes soon.....just need to find the time to do it. I will post that when im done.

It's very pretty.  I thought Neytiri's choker looked more like a half hitch style, but I admit I like the half knot a lot too.  It spirals more tightly and looks more polished, I think.

I found hemp cording in a couple different weights and all different colors at my local craft store.  I already have quite the stash of beads, but I found a few more that are well suited to the Neytiri-style choker.  I've been experimenting with other knot patterns too, to see what I can come up with.  Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on your perspective) macrame isn't so popular, but it's making a bit of a comeback in things like micromacrame, so there's info out there.

I'd love to see your version of Jake's choker-- do you plan to make the mostly fiber one, or the one that looks like beads sewn onto leather?  I like them both, but especially the fiber one (listed as "Jake's Na'vi Choker" on the Noble Collection website).

Yes I'm planning on making the mostly fiber one. The leather one didn't strike me as much as that one did. Hopefully I'll start on it tonight, just have to finish all my school work and such.

I was planning on doing it with square knots, but after looking at the choker for a bit longer, it looks more like it braided. Any ideas?

Lots!  I've been staring, my nose inches from the screen, at the picture on the Noble Collection website.

You could use kumihimo (it's hard for me to find a good picture of the simple eight-strand braid online, but here's instructions and a little tutorial: http://www.kumihimo.nl/eng-8draad.php ) or you could do chinese crown knots, aka lanyard knots (http://www.free-macrame-patterns.com/lanyard-knots.html , scroll down about halfway for the "spiral chain"-- if you've ever used plastic lacing to make keychains at a summer camp or something, it's the same basic thing).  Both are very easy though Kumihimo is perhaps a bit more free.  Either one you can string beads on, and slip them up into the knot/braid randomly or in a pattern, as it looks like in the Noble Collection piece.

The blue background on that one side looks like thread woven in a figure eight pattern around two base cords.  Then it's tacked down with a few wraps of leather around it and the braid.  The other side just looks like a few strands of kumihimo or other braids, or perhaps a flat braid pattern or a finger loop weaving pattern (I used to know how, but I forgot, and it's hard to find instructions when you don't exactly remember what the technique is called).  If I can help you any more, please let me know.  It's much easier to watch these techniques done in person than to explain them with words or pictures.  I think there are some youtube videos out there, but haven't looked through them myself yet (because I learned in person!).
