Be my valentine?
« on: February 13, 2017, 05:30:03 pm »
Seeing that Na'vi does not, nor will ever likely have a word that conveys the sense of 'valentine' as understood for US Valentine's day, I am trying to approximate here. The best I have come up with is yawnetutsyìp or the shortened yawntutsyìp. Thus 'Be my valentine' might translate to: lu yawnetutsyìp oeyä.

Any better ideas?

Not bad. :) Maybe if anything, livu or even slivu over lu.

I also remember this:

Will someone please translate this into English for me? "Nìrangal nga slu oeri"

Thank you!
It has slightly improper grammar. It seems that the intended meaning is something of a Valentine's Day message: "If only (or: I wish) you become mine."

If that's the case, I'd go with:

Nìrangal nga slivu oeyä yawntu

Or something similar. :)

Which may be too much now that I think of it.  :ikran:

I think that yawntutsyìp (as `Eylan Ayfalulukanä proposed) is in this case the best :)
For me it sounds nice :)

Hmm ... paskalin :) How can I overlook this word ...

Yeah, it has right meaning, however yawntutsyìp for me sounds better (just my feeling)

I haven't seen paskalin used before. It has some possibilities.
