Quote
I like <to do an action>
Oeru sunu fwa ________.

Doesn't this mean more like "I like that (a condition or action exists).

Wouldn't "I like <to do an action>" be:

Kem seri _____ a oeru sunu

All the various phrases in the dictionary could be added here, as well as the material in the 'getting to know you' Na'viteri blog posts.

We need to use a noun when we talk about an action. Unlike in English, you cannot take a verb as a subject (or even an object). To solve the problem, we use fwa (or futa if it's the direct object).

This.^

To put it another way, It's because You can say "I like food" as "oeru sunu syuve."  But you can't say in Na'vi "I like to eat food" without saying "oeru sunu fwa yom syuvet".

QuoteDoesn't this mean more like "I like that (a condition or action exists).

That would also include me and my action existing.

Nice stuff, ma frapo! Adding.  Anyone got any more? I'll have to think of some more too...

Great! Along those lines

Zola'u nìprrte' (ne ...)
Welcome (to ___)

Tolätxaw nìprrte'.
Welcome back.

Responding to thanks:

    Kea tìkin. no need.
    Nìprrte'.  gladly, with pleasure.
Oeru meuia. Literally: an honor to me.
Hayalo ta oe/Hayalo oeta  Literally: next time from me.
    Pum ngeyä. Literally, yours.

These would all render as "You're welcome" in English as conversational bits, I think.

Responding to a compliment:

    Ke pxan. Literally: not worthy.
    Tstunwi. Literally: kind.
Ngaru tsulfä. Literally: to you the mastery.

These would all render as "Thanks (thank you)" in English as conversational bits.

Congratulating:

Toasting:

     Cheers!
