Hi All. I have taken a little hiatus from learning Na'vi to focus on school. Now, I am ready to begin learning again. I currently have an old version of Taronyu's dictionary and know basic verbs, nouns, and some grammer. I know that I should do simple things like print off the latest version of the dictionary. What I am wondering is what ways worked best for YOU to learn the language, be it new guides, etc. from LearnNavi or study techniques. What are some good ways to get back into learning Na'vi? Irayo aysmukan! :)

Muzer

This is just me. YMMV.

I've done quite well doing the following:

* Reading through Na'vi in a Nutshell twice
* Translating a few minor things (songs in my case) and getting my many mistakes corrected. I had to use the dictionary almost constantly.
* Reading through NIAN more until I'm positive that I understand every mistake I made and why I made them - and what to do to avoid making that mistake again.
* Translating a major thing (the Opera web browser for me). As I've been doing this (25% currently), I've slowly been having to rely on the dictionary and NIAN less and less often.

Thanks for the quick response. I've heard great things about the 'Na'vi in a Nutshell' guide, but I haven't had a chance to download it yet.

EDIT: ...And just thinking about it, I already thought of a song that would be fun to translate. Thats a good idea.

Don't know if you know it already:
There is a Podcast, that is helpful.

And also there is this project of Tirea Aean, which is just like school lessons. And if you know the basics you can still sign up for that. =) It started only 3 weeks ago. =) I'm a member of that project as well and find it very helpful. =)

Hope this helps you restart learning (additional to what Muzer said). =)

That's great. I was wondering when a Learn Na'vi podcast would come along...

Yeah this one's great. And it also deals with the pronounciation. That's cool, because learning via internet that is a rather difficult topic. =)

So, how long weren't you here?

Also, I'd recommend not using the main site for anything other than downloads as it is woefully out of date, for example, tsteu is now tstew.

And there is also lots of vocab missing. For example when I made myself a semantic field of the body and already knew words that the main side doesn't tell. =)

Btw, that's a great way to learn and remember new vocab, to draw for example a Na'vi body and mark every limb/body part you can name(using the dictionary  :) )
Have done this with Body, environment, interaction, moods,... =)

Well, I think I joined in February and maybe the end of March I stopped. Just started again at the beginning of this month. So 2 months. But it seems like things are updating all the time so I feel like there's a lot I'm missing.

Got it. And thanks for telling me about that change.

I've found the Prezi slides from the NgayNume lessons to be extremely useful at teaching the basic words/ rules.
NgayNume itself is a fantastic concept and idea that i've been following when I can :)
