Oha'tíma

Kaltxí  :)
You can call me Oha'tíma for now (I got the name from the official avatar site when I made myself into an avatar ;P). I'm not sure if I'll change it later. So I'm new to this, obviously, hehe. I've been looking at all the  basics and stuff before I joined, so I know a tiny bit, but some of it is still kind of confusing, and I haven't gotten anything truly memorized yet [except for Kaltxí]. I have a lot of questions, I won't ask them now though.  but here is my first attempt at a sentence in Na'vi; please tell me if there is anything wrong or if there is any ways to improve.

Oe new fpìl nìNa'vi
I want [to(is there a Na'vi word for 'to'?)?] think in the Na'vi way

Nìprrte' zola'u (that's "welcome!").

You might find the Na'vi in a Nutshell document helpful (it's linked to off the Front page).

There is a Na'vi word for "to," but you need to think about the grammar and the meaning of this sentence, and less about matching the Na'vi to the English word for word.  In this particular situation, there's a special construction for "want to VERB" phrases, which we have here.  You need to use the subjunctive here, which is made using the infix ‹iv› (the little brackets say "this is an infix" — they aren't written in words, except as guides for beginners).  So:

Oe new fpivìl nìNa'vi.

Kaltxì ulte zola'u nìprrte'! If you have questions, this is the place to ask them. Although, do look through the posts here on the Beginner Board to see if there is already an answer to your question. If not, feel free to start a new thread. Be sure to set it to "notify" though so that you know when a response has been made.
