Robert Charles Walters III

Bright fame, Free man, Ruler of the army.

Yea, so I'm lost haha. That sounds like I am a well known leader of a band of rebels (not a bad thing actually :D). I'll be thinking about it though. Maybe just pick something that I think matches my personality well.

well my name is Louis,
which means "Famous Warrior"

But i could not find a word for "famous" so i changed it to forbidden. Which is OK because it still goes well with warrior

so does my name look and spell OK ???
kxanì tsamsiyu

Eywal ngaru teing oeti

my name is jonathan
which means Gift of God

so i replaced God with Eywa and came up with this.
Eywal ngati teiing

i need someone to check to see if it's correct.
thanks

Very good.

One thing I thought of: Forbidden is being used to describe warrior here, so it's an adjective. Adjectives are attached with an "a" on the side close to the noun they modify. So you could have your name be:

Kxanìa Tsamsiyu

(or)

Tsamsiyu Akxanì

Whichever is easier for you to say.

nice, Eywal ngati teiing correctly means "Eywa gives you". (I suspect though that lenition occurs in t<ei>ing, making teing. Just a guess.) You could possibly use Eywal oeti teing which means "Eywa gives me" or if you felt like having a really long name Eywal ngaru teing oeti which is "Eywa gives you me" (hopefully that makes sense in english, atleast it does in Na'vi haha)

The old Uriuujìn

Ok, so I've done a mixture of what other people are doing, first using the name I made for myself and changing it to Na'vi pronunciation, though I'm still not sure how they would write the 'j' sound that they make.
Uryuujin--> (oo-ree-oo-jh-ihh-n)--> Uriuujìn (?)

And I'm trying to decide the second part of my name. Seeing as there is no word for balance yet, I was thinking of deciding between these names, or maybe using a couple:

Tsamsiyu Eywa-yä
Warrior Eywa-(GEN)
Warrior of Eywa
or
Hawnu-yu Eywa-yä
Protect-(er) Eywa-(GEN)
Protector/Guardian of Eywa
or
Plltxe-yu Tì-terkup-yä
Speak-(er) (Noun)-die-(gen)
Speaker for the Dead
or
Hawnu-yu Utral Aymokriyä
Protect-(er) Tree of Voices
Protector/Guardian of the Tree of Voices

It may seem a bit... much, but I kinda like them.

What do you all think?

I think that's really good actually, your Na'vi is quite good too. I especially like your "Speaker for the Dead" title, has a very tsahìk feel to it.

Yes the "Speaker for the Dead" is very good i like it a lot, i wish i could get a grip with all these, -yu, Tì- and yä. :(

Tanhì'ite

I used an alias of mine, translated (hopefully correctly) into Na'vi. It means "Daughter of the Stars" in its parent language, so I thought combining "Tanhì" (star) and "'ite" (daughter) would accomplish the same effect: "Tanhì'ite" (Star Daughter).

However, what I'm not sure about is if I should have denoted possession -- something akin to "of" in the English translation. I couldn't find anything to suit that purpose, and wasn't sure if it was even necessary. Any thoughts or corrections?

Eywayä Irrtok

Well, I just found the english meaning of my name "Isaac - May god smile" or something like that, and changed it to fit Na'vi culture "Eywayä Irrtok" or Eywa's smile"

Txan irayo, smukan! I am flattered.

Here is another idea I had:
Tì-f<ol>txey Eywa-yä
(Noun)-chosen Eywa-(GEN)
Chosen of Eywa

By the way, after I decide, anyone is welcome to use any of these ^_^ I cannot hold claim to a part of Na'vi language anyway, can I?

And if anyone wants, I'd be willing to help out with names. Go ahead and send me a pm anytime ^_^

An interesting name, though why you would want to do that is beyond me o.o?  I love those things, they are cute, in an "good-eywa-I-is-gonna-eats-you" kind of way ^_^ the grammar is sound ^_^

My English name Lucifer derives from the latin Lucis -light and Ferre - bringer.
So at first I thought of naming myself Atan Munge - Light Bring, didn't like the ring to it.
I looked for verbs that would go nice with light and I saw the word zong - save. To make a user of a verb you add yu.
Taronyu- Hunter
Zongyu - Saviour

And so now I am Atan Zongyu - Light Saviour.

I think you could have said Atan'Zamungeyu.  It's kind of long but it means light bringer b/c of the -yu at the end of Zamunge which changes it from "to bring" --> a person who specializes in bringing. :) Sounds cool too

errr how does Lucifer translate into "Light Bringer"? To a christian, that almost seems... Disturbing? Because another name for Satan is Lucifer... hmmm...

It's true though, Lucifer was originally an angel. The lightbringer, as a matter of fact  ;D
