It's because we're so used to speaking English.  English is such a weird language compared to many others that people have such a hard time learning it, and conversely, those who speak English natively have a hard time learning another language.

Just keep at it and you'll get it. ;)

Learning a new language is always tough to start with (It took me about about 3 readthroughs of Na'vi an a Nutshell just to begin to understand everything). Just keep going though, and you'll begin to get the hang of it.

As Jake says in the movie, it's just repetition!

Believe me, grammar of my native language is waaay tougher ;) Just don't give up and keep practicing on a regular basis!

If it helps, try thinking of it logistically...

Like, how would this work if I did this, and so on...

Mawey, ma tsmuktu.  It can be frustrating learning a new language if you focus on all the things you don't know yet.  Try this:  Focus on one grammar rule at a time, and then figure out what things you can now say, having learned that rule.

Tìkenong:  If you've learned the ergative [ -(ì)l ] and accusative [ -it/-t(i) ] case markers, the pronoun oe, and maybe five or six verbs and nouns, you can create a few easy sentences.

Oe-l tse'a ikran-it.
Oe-l taron yerik-it.
Oe-l tspang Sawtute-t

That's how i got started.  It just takes some tìmweypey, ma 'eylan.  The Hometree didn't grow in a day ;)  Just take little steps, one at a time, and you'll get there.

I just get so confused with the danged word order. And Spanish doesn't help because half the time I mix the languages together.

Ngaru irayo seiyi, ma Sireayä mokri.  I'm glad you liked it.  I was going back and forth between that and, "The ikran cannot fly on his first day"—but then, for all i know, an ikran can fly the day it's born  :P

That's what i mean, i don't know; i was just guessing that an ikran can't fly the day it's born.  But since i wasn't sure, i made the statement about Hometree instead—as i'm reasonably certain it took a while for the Hometree to grow ;)

I thought so, too.  And, as an added bonus, it mirrors the English expression "Rome wasn't built in a day."

In Russian we say "Москва не сразу строилась" - Moscow wasn't built at once ;D
