This is my second attempt at a sentence, as before please instruct me if i do something wrong. I've only been learning for little over 12 hours.

Oe-l tìyawn f<ei>rapo-ti ulte spaw Ewya-l h<er>awnu nivi-ti.
I love everyone and believe Ewya protects us.

I'm a bit confused about some of the infixes and sufixes used, should i use -ri in order to mark the subject, and if so who would be the subject?
Anyway, please post any errors (because im sure theirs some ^^)

Ah-ha, thanks, I need to stop thinking in english language structure and start thinking in na'vi, it seems alot easier when you post the correct sentance and translation than when i try >.<

-ri is used to mark the topic not the subject. In general avoid it like the plague.

Now that I've got that out of my system, tì- makes adjectives and verbs into abstract nouns so tìyawn is the noun love not the verb.

The phrase for I love you (from Frommer) is "nga oeru yawne lu" so I love everyone would be "frapo oeru yawne lu".

Infixes only go in verbs not nouns, and Frommer reckons that yawne is positive enough not to need <ei> unless you're being deliberately cheesy.





I believe is followed by an elided "that", it should have a tsnì and AFAIK (although I'm not sure about this next bit) hawnu should take an infinitive <iv>.

The oe in the first clause isn't the subject so it wouldn't be easily inferred (I might think that everyone believes Eywa protects us) so you should probably have an oe in the second clause.

I don't know what nivi is meant to be so I'll ignore that for now.

Lastly, hawnu seems to take the dative case (based on one of Neytiri's lines) not the accusative so it should be ayoengur and, it would then be intransitive (albeit still with a valency of two) and so the -l isn't needed.





So it should be: frapo oe-ru yawne lu ulte oe syaw tsnì Eywa ayoeng-ur h<iv>awnu





The subject is the thing doing the action, in transitive verbs, this is sometimes called the agent.





grr... triple ninja'd, ma hawnuyu, just missing the tsnì and hawnu taking the dative not accusative (and hence the ergative being unnecessary), very good.

But if should be dative, than it should be:
"ayoengur tìhawnu tivìng" (as Eytukan says in the film to Neytiri, when he's dying)

Neytiri uses hawnu on its own with a dative object, no compound verb.

Ayoengur hawnu seems to be "protect us" from the one example I wrote down in the film.

I think thats right, still having trouble with the suffix/infixes though.

Interesting, that implies the hawnu might be an adjective for protected and that the verbal form is to tìhawnu si. Interesting.

First one is just missing a lu (it should be at the end of the sentence).

In the second, you want the relative clause marker form of "how" which, extrapolating from "fì'u-t-a -> futa" is possibly "fyata" but would need to be in the accusative as it is being taught.

In this case the ne can go and taron should IIRC have <iv>.

oe should probably be in the dative if what is being taught is speicfied (as it is).

Lastly <er> on its own makes a present continuous roughly the say as "is teaching", taught would just use the past <am>.

So it should be:
