What did you guys read when you were younger? :D Here are the books/series that I liked a lot. You'll see I was a fantasy fan! hrh ;)

- Abarat by Clive Barker
- Les chevaliers d'émeraude by Anne Robillard
- Les mondes d'Ewilan by Pierre Bottero
- Sigrid et les mondes perdus and Peggy Sue et les fantômes by Serge Brussolo
- The Edge Chronicles by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell
- Silverwing, Firewing and Sunwing by Kenneth Oppel
- Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
- Amos Daragon by Bryan Perro

Leaving out "real" children's books like the Robert Munch stuff, The Stupids, etc, I would say the first books I remember reading (having read to me) were the Narnia series.

Other memorable childhood books include (but are not limited to):
The Wizard Children of Finn by Mary Tannen
The Wierdstone of Brisingamin (can't remember the author offhand)
The Secret Garden by Mary Hodgsen Burnett
The Ordinary Princess (I should know the author but my sleepy brain won't comply)
The Gammage Cup (same problem as above)
Anne of Green Gables
The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
I started the Harry Potter Books
Goosebumps

There are a few other I kind of remember, but I can't think of their names. I really wasn't much of a reader until recently.

Interesting thread, but I doubt any of you would know many books that I would be listing. Many are Dutch books, and rather dated. Let's see:

De jongens van de Kameleon (the boys of the Chameleon)
The "Discus" series
Adriaan en Olivier series
Pinkeltje ("Pinky", very very old)
Pietje Bell
Most if not all by Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Philip K. Dick, Tolkien
Krr a lì'fya lam sraw, may' frivìp utralit.

Ngopyu ayvurä.

Little House on the Prairie. They were the only reason I learned to read.
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
Redwall
Ginger Pye

In kindergarten I actually dressed up as Laura for Halloween. I was so cute.  :D

National Geographic... what a classic. When I was little I used to read my encyclopedia. I was a nerd.  8)

And also I forgot to add (how could I forget?!) the Moomintroll books, randomly enough.

In my childhood I read almost entirely nonfiction.  I was such a nerd.   :P

I remember picking up a NG when I was in the 7th grade, and opening it up to see a chubby naked woman with boobs hanging down to her stomach. I didn't pick another one up until the 9th grade.  ::)

I recall A Series of Unfortunate Events (up to the last chapter of book 12) most prominently, though TBH I was never much of a reader when I wsa young, and if I was, it was mostly nonfiction :P

I need to add the Tarzan series (up to book 14 I believe) to my list.

It's epic that you guys were reading the National Geographic! hrh ;D For my part, I was always renting books from a certain collection about animals at the library. Each week I was reading about a new animal. :P

What is that? :) It reminds me of the Disney movie of the same name, does it actually have a link with it?

I never saw the movie, but it has the same characters and seems to have the same plot as the book, which is the first in a series of 5 by Lloyd Alexander.  The first one was always my favorite, though. :D
