To Kill a Mockingbird. Summer reading list.  :P

I definitely need to reread that. I've watched the movie a few times recently but haven't read the book in years.

I read it at camp in the 7th grade because my mom made me, I don't know why. Now I finished reading it and am on to a book about a girl who wants a prom date.  ;D

Getting It. A gay boy gives a straight one a makeover so he can get the girl of his dreams. It was supposed to teach tolerance but I found it super stereotypical. Seriously, gay people giving makeovers? Come on.

Not to mention the (male) author had no idea of what women find attractive in men.  ::)

Gingerbread- Rachel Cohn. The plot could have been interesting if not for the fact that the heroine was pretentious.  :P This book showed me that sexy drama can be dull. Excrutiatingly, mind-numbingly dull.

The Lovely Bones. Some people think it was too gruesome, I think it needs more focus on the death and forensics. I don't really care about the other people, this a murder mystery!

Stil pushing through Moby Dick; hopefully I'll have it done soon. I have a lot of books to choose from to start next; choosing is the hardest part.

After finishing Läckberg's novel, I read The Associate by John Grisham, actually almost entirely, and plan on finishing it later. I'm currently in the middle of The Edge Chronicles: The Lost Barkscrolls by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. That series is just great! :)

Oh, was that because you're afraid of beginning a bad novel or something like that? If you liked Millennium and enjoy polars in general, I strongly suggest you give a try to Camilla Läckberg's books. :)

I discovered her by chance as I was looking at the English polar section of a store (I bought one of her novels because she was Swedish and the story seemed nice hrh), and since then I've read three works of her and can't get enough. ;D

How could I have missed this awesome child board for so long? 8)

Currently, G.R.R. Martin’s A Clash of Kings (trying to read the series)

Before that, Seebohm, The Innocents, about twin sisters serving as nurses on the front line in WWI…
Before that, Sutcliff, The Eagle of the Ninth, was interesting to see what they did to adapt it to the movie.
Before that, Cressida Cowell, How to Train Your Dragon, so different from the movie :P interesting and funny but I didn’t like the drawings in the book :P

Yes, it’s a series with titles like »How to become a Pirate«, »How to Speak Dragonese« etc. As I said, very different from the movie … or I should say, the movie is very different from the premise of the book. For example, in the book, it’s already traditional for the Vikings to train dragons and Hiccup’s is special because it’s the smallest and he trains it by way of actually speaking to it instead of shouting commands (which is the ‘normal’ training method :P ) – as I said, entertaining but I’ve only read the first installment.

Do they split the book in two parts in Sweden as well? I was very confused when an acquaintance of mine told me he was currently reading the 3rd book in a series of 12 planned :o … in Germany they split every book in 2 parts. But I’m reading the Bantam paperbacks.

I was recently sniffing in the bookstore (here in Czech atxkxe) and found some books of "A Song of Ice and Fire" serie. Paperbacks were split into two books, but single book in hard cover is available too.
On the wiki I found that serie will have 7 parts... (source here)
Is that serie (or books already released) really good? I was thinking about buying it - I need some reading for holiday and I haven't bought anything for a years (that's lie, this year I bought ASG :)) Although I think I'll finaly buy something from Bernhard Hennen about elves :D

Now that's really interesting! :o It does sound very different from the movie. :D Of course, they decided to do everything much more extreme and dramatic than the original story! :P
