Ok and... So... what it exactly mean for us or what it mean for internet users from IT side of view? Like the video will play with less impact on performance and memory or something like that?

  • Flash doesn't run properly on non-Windows machines
  • Flash doesn't run at all on mobile devices
  • Flash is closed-source, so you can't inspect what it's doing
  • Flash uses an inherently insecure and outdated plugin API (except in Chrome)
  • Flash has had (and presumably still has) many security holes so large that a toruk could fly right through them :toruk:

So I'm really glad that it's finally on its way out now :)

I can't really make a general statement about performance, because HTML5 / JavaScript performance is heavily dependent on which browser you use. And besides, on my Linux system Flash runs so slowly and eats so much CPU time, that almost anything else would be an improvement ;)

Flash... it's time to go. I don't use flash anymore for many months.

Oh hey, that's why I have worked so much to ban flash from the forum (using html5 player and stuff), and I see I am/was on the right way. Yay! :D

Flash is so ubiquitious that it is going to be around for a long time. And certain parts of flash (like RTMP) are now standards. The best thing Adobe could do is open-source it. I suspect that this would quickly solve a lot of the security issues.

Perhaps, making Flash open-source could open the box of pandora. :o I don't think make Flash open-souce would fix its security problems. There are a lot of flash-based stuff with security holes...
