Kaltxì ma frapo,

That happend to me today: I was installing a freeware software that had also a tool named "Delta Toolbar" which you can "normaly" uncheck the "install too" box. I did that, but this toolbar will be also installed too, regardless of whether the check box has been selected or not! I needed a whole day to remove that "toolbar". This software is like an adware, spyware or a fake program that infect your browser (FF, IE etc) and start to spy!
Fortunately, I was able to delete this stuff completely from my computer, and it isn't an aggressive program.

I deleted it mostly manually, but I also used Malwarebytes Free to search and delete some rests of it. PC now completely clean. :)
^This was from log file

Be careful, ma smuk!

Eywa ayngahu!

Yeah, totally! Don't download any sketchy things, ever.

I'm Google Chrome (well.. Chrome OS but still), so I only install stuff from the Google Chrome Web Store. :)

I guess, you have an Android tablet <- Oe ke tse'a :-[... I think, this don't affect you. :)

Yeah, my Nexus 7 with Chrome for Android installed as default browser..
But I primarily use a Samsung Series 3 Chromebook. :)
I do have also a Windows 7 / Linux Mint Olivia netbook. (also with Chrome as default browser)

I think this mainly affects Windows users, right? Because you go to those weird download sites and they give you an .exe that has a install wizard that installs other weird windows-y stuff and toolbars and what not. OR at least I only experienced this kind of stuff in all my time on Windows but no other OS. :-\ ???

Stay away from "install wizard" - type stuff. You are opening your kimono because you give permission to an unknown app to do unknown things to your machine.

If this affect Windows only, I don't know. It wasn't a "weird" download, that is why I wonder...
As I installed a complete harmless program, while the installation it was a check box where I could choose to install that toolbar too.
I didn't choose it, but it just ignored my choise and installed that stuff... >:(

Another warning if you download anything from SourceForge: they've pulled a CNET and started bundling crapware (particularly the Ask toolbar) in with some Windows installers, most notably FileZilla.

Personally, I think it's gonna blow up in their faces, hard.  Most people who use open-source software, myself included, won't tolerate that kind of stuff.

That's a good antimalware. :)

Thanks for your message.
(I love the word ''crapware'' you used.)

The other way to mitigate the problem is to use sandboxie when installing things, to check exactly what changes the installar makes.
