Is it worth learning how to use vi? ... I'm just interested in the opinions of the people who do use it.
Why is it I first thought of the Na'vi suffix when I first saw this thread....
Because you're an addict. ;)

In my experience nano (if installed) is better.

"If installed" is always the problem.
Once a few folks from Japan came to the Netherlands to demo their new system and they were desparate as Emacs (shudder) was not installed on the HP9000. That meant they could not edit the local config for their stuff.

vi was installed. Luckily I was able to help them with it.

(Actually, the changes were so small I could have done it with sed... ::) )
