Mo'at's leaf-printed shawl
« on: February 10, 2011, 12:01:23 pm »
you know what I'm talking about, right? Mo'at wears it during her last scenes in the movie (specifically the scene where they attempt to save Grace) and it kind of looks like a spider web print, last night I looked at it closer watching the film again and it looks like it's the print of the small divots in leaves :] anyway I really love that shawl, I really want it too :P

I'd love to have one of those too :D I'd definitely make one but it's not that easy to find fabric that looks like leaves...

I don't think you'll find that, but you will find that fabric and you can make those patterns yourself...

Being so thin-looking and transparent as it was, it reminded me strongly of a poncho. And now that you mention it, ma Ney'ite, it really looks like it has the kind of ``veins´´ a leaf has in it. I can't help but wonder if there is some sort of purpose to it, besides it obviously being ceremonial, that is.

ah, yes, ma Teylar, that's what they were :P I know I unfortunately can't find it; and it'd be quite hard to make, too, I'm sure it's used with a sheer white base and white sewing string for the leaf printing. it's so beautiful though. :D

ANything that was CG in the movie had to be designed, made, so that the CG modelers can make it.. That means that Cameron and Fox have the design.

Not about the pattern, sure, someone on 'Rrta would have the pattern.

Is it just me or does the shawl have a purple glow (It could be, simply, reflecting the light of the bioluminescense of Vitrayä Ramunong.) ????

It's beautiful, I always wondered what it is/how it's made.
