Yew longbows

This probably isn't the correct place to put this but I have just obtained a lot of Yew. I also came across a copy of the bowyers bible and a nice chapter on the Yew Longbow.

I thought to myself "hmm why dont i make one" then i though "hang on, what about all the people on the learnnavi forum?"

So what im offering is to make you a yew longbow. unfortunately (or fortunately, however you want to see it) my time isn't free so they will cost money.

I will post pictures of the Yew that i have got when i next go home. This will take at least 6 months to season so i will start working on them in September/October time. I will also need your draw length (this is from the centre of your hand to you cheek bone, with arm that will hold the bow extended) so that i can work out how big the bow is in relation to you.

E.G My Draw length- 32"
    My Bow Lenght- 72" (6 foot)

If you want recurves of flat bows i am willing to try.

Disclaimer: this is my first attempt at bow making. the bows i make for other may take longer to come as i will have to test my own to see how much punishment they can take. defnitely track your progress with your own on here and your first initial trys, then when you have some for sale head over to the AVATAR Merchandise forum and set up shop (so to speak). Defenitely add a link in your sig too.

Sorry for the lack of updates but i had a particularly busy week last week and by the weekend i was too tired to spend and afternoon with a saw cutting down yew.

but this weekend will be the one when i can do it so everyone wait until this weekend then all you have to think about is 6 months of seasoning

during those 6 months i will post some of the techniques that im gonna be using as well as videos and links which i think you may find useful.

I finally have taken a chainsaw and have cut down 3 staves in total, 2 yew and 1 hazel
