Okay, so all of us here love animals

Every spring, Canada organizes a mass slaughter of baby seals, from 2008-2010, they massed over 1 million kills. (Quota is 335,000 per year)
The seals are bludgeoned (with a pickaxe in which the killers often run like maniacs swinging wildly and missing one-hit blows, requiring up to 5 strikes to kill), stabbed, speared, shot and even skinned alive by so-called fisherman, where almost all of that quota is wasted by leaving the bloodied seals to rot.

This act has prompted the EU to ban all imports of Seal products from Canada into its member states

The slaughter is not only supported by Canada, but many companies based in the US, particularly, the restaurant chain Red Lobster; The Red Lobster restaurant chain is the world's largest purchaser of Canadian seafood and, in particular, seafood sold by Canadian sealers. For this reason, organizations are doing all they can to convince Red Lobster to help end the Canadian commercial seal hunt by boycotting Canadian seafood. So far, Red Lobster has refused to do so. http://www.seashepherd.org/documents/seals/red_lobster.html

There are also several other companies that directly support it by selling the seal-fur products, in Quebec and Denmark:
Odette Leblanc (http://www.odetteleblanc.com/), Pajar (http://www.pajar.com/), and Petit nord (dk) (http://www.petitnord.com/)

I grew up and was raised in Canada, and it's always made me feel disdainful of fisheries, especially in the eastern half of the country.  Since I was about 6, when I first heard about it, it shocked me so much, that to this day I have not eaten any seafood (13 years worth).  Even after moving down to the US, I refuse to go anywhere near restaurants that support (directly or indirectly) the abuse of animals.

Give us a chance, MORON!

I'll have to get a pick axe of my own to go hunt for sealers...
