Avatar has a strong environmental theme and one that got debated on the fan forums.  A number of us were inspired enough to make a fan film, called Our Only Home.  This fan film was released 10 years ago on 26th August.

This film does share something with Abatar I that both have been screened at an IMAX cinema.  This happened at the IMAX in Birmingham (UK) on 5th November 2010 to an audience prior to the screening of Avatar Special Edition.

In addition, it was subtitled in multiple languages as well as having a 'making of' and a 'making of the making of' videos.  These can be viewed from the YouTube Channel:  https://m.youtube.com/user/OurOnlyHome/videos

10 years on, it's still relevant more than ever.

Aye. Indeed.  I wonder if we feel we have evolved anymore in terms of being more responsible and considerate towards our environment in these past 10 years?  We might have in some areas, but prepaid nowhere near as swiftly as we should have.

Good question! I am not too optimistic about it...

Kxanay

Neither am I, but I'm not content to sit back and do nothing, either.

Moreover, the ecological situation has changed to worse side as whole.

I wonder this too. If people have evolved, then it's...very hard to tell right now.

Kxanay

Can definitely agree with that. Especially in regards to the people I live with.

Little revival - this should be good thread for this:

James Cameron Hopes Avatar: The Way Of Water Can Save The Ocean
https://screenrant.com/james-cameron-avatar-the-way-of-water-save-ocean/
Exclusive: James Cameron shares his love for the ocean and how he hopes Avatar: The Way of Water will inspire people to help with ocean conservation.

QuoteJames Cameron: I've been in love with the ocean since I was a kid. I've [been] a scuba diver since I was 16; I've spent thousands of hours underwater all over the place. I've seen how the reefs are being degraded; I've seen how the ocean is suffering and failing as a result of our presence.

We're now eight billion people. When I was born, we were three billion people. Now, it's eight billion people. We have to change how we operate. There's no reason why we can't have beautiful, wonderful, fulfilling lives as human beings; we just have to do things differently. I feel that our guardianship of the ocean is something that we all have to share. Everybody everywhere has to share it. Even if you live inland, your downstream runoff from your agricultural fields that's making your food [is] going in the ocean. Every time you eat fish, that's affecting the ocean. It's all connected.

Maybe a movie like this can make people feel connected to the ocean, and maybe that makes them think a little bit. I'm not saying just send 10 bucks to Greenpeace. I'm talking about how we can work together to conserve this wonderful, beautiful, amazing thing that we have right here on planet Earth. We don't have to go to Alpha Centauri to see a cool ocean.
