If I recall the odds were 1 out of 2.973 million chance it'd hit earth

I don't know the exact numbers,but I do know the first one was low...I am not so sure about the second one. Either way,I hope we don't get affected by them..

What's truly scary is that much of the world's power grid is in danger of catastrophic failure should we ever be hit by a massive solar storm.  And we've been hit by them in the relatively recent past, but the problems caused weren't nearly as severe due to the technology level of the time period.

Most notably, a massive solar storm like ones in the past would blow out many large transformers.  And those things are insanely expensive, take a long time to manufacture, and for a while now there has been a multiple year waiting list for them.

Let's just hope we make it through the next solar activity maximum without our luck running out.
