There's a petition worth signing on the 38 degrees website (Link's at the bottom of the Independent article) which I'd highly recommend - once it reaches 150,000 signatures, it should automatically get debated in parliament.

I'm annoyed and I don't even live there any more! I love forests, esp. wonderful old mixed deciduous forests where fallen trees are allowed to rot peacefully. Not many of those left

I'm not a Brit either, but this still pisses me off. We can never just let nature be, can we? Wherever there's profit to be made, we're willing to chop, burn, and slash our way to get it.

i wish i could build a ufo like ship and cause some "disruptions" whenever the lumber guys show up

Or the entz from lord of the rings, then when the cops show up all they see is broken machines and trees. Plus who's going to believe a logger saying "the trees are alive!! They broke our stuff and tried to kill us!!"
They'd say "sure the mean old trees are our to get you but you all miraculously escaped"
