Ma frapo,

You probably know, I am planning to do some LARP-style dances around the firepits. Like a powwow to bring up some real life Na'vi customs and manners.

I've stared a thread in the cosplay section of this forum, mainly for planning the same type of actions in the US during a gathering, but I guess everyone should be invited who plans to attend EA3 to bring up some ideas here as well.

Basic idea (as a starting point) behind it is some kind of Ikran Flyer Dance/Hunter Dance, inspired by both the attached design draft for the movie  (sorry, I repost that over and over again, I know) and real-life tribal customs. (AND the inspiration we get from the fanfic by Ateyo Te Syaksyuk (and of which I am honored to call a friend of mine).

What has to be done:
- Design drafts have to made for the things to be build (adornments, masks)
- We'll need drummers for that

So, any ideas? I am so excited to see some suggestions for that.  Any drummers attending EA3 that are able to let us enter trance?

Very interesting idea ma tsmukan. :)
I think it'd make a lot of fun, sp let's try.
If you need a person, I could play the drums.

So I hope more people think that is a good idea and will join.

I'm not good at dancing or drumming :o

But I remember, last year there was a group on Wednesday that did a bit of drumming around the fire pit, wasn't there? Maybe they can be persuaded to give you (and everybody who wants to dance around the fire) a rhythm  ;D

Well, we might have drummers - very good!
But it seems that no-one really wants to dance... This is a project where have to take part and be part of the entertainment.

Anyway, still there are chances to do that LARP - but as there is next to no-one who wants to build masks and props for this event AND next to no-one can be counted in to do rehearsals.

You would have to fill me up with some of the good stuff to do that alone - the awkward style.   :D   (Sorry, no pictures allowed. I want videos. :D)

I guess I've overrated the enthusiasm of the attendees, but it's ok. Anyway if anybody wants to be with me for the praise of the ikrans and for hunting dances - I would be glad. Just post here or shoot me a PM. There's still plenty of time to plan this.
So, don't be lame and just watch it - be part of the clan!

I haven't see the thread you mention in the Cosplay area. But what a fantastic idea! This is kind of what this community is all about.

I am involved in Celtic festivals of various sorts here in the 'States. At one of these (the Glasgow (KY) Highland Games), there is a drumming circle on the Saturday evenings of the games. A big fire, like the one in the picture, is built. And drummers bring their drums 9sometimes other instruments), and play well into the night. There are belly dancers who dance to this music. It is quite the tribal spectacle, and was especially good last year.

There is absolutely no reason (or even a good excuse) that something like this shouldn't become a part of our Na'vi tradition. We need to make this somehow work for AvatarMeet as well. Those of us that like to drum (and I have drummed in Glasgow before) should make our own drums, as would be a Na'vi tradition.
