lol yeah I heard of it... lol helms deep and shire jioned together from LOTR... thats how I remember the place... Is it half an hour away from Mitcham? :S

Haha, yeah, though it's nowhere near as beautiful as either, regretfully. Not sure about Mitcham... never heard of it to be honest :/

damn... I assumed it will be beautiful though...but eyho... Mitcham near croydon and all never heard of it? :/

Twonyu Ikrana you are right... there should be a common where we should meet up but the problem in that is... finding that common ground if you takelook at the map of peopel who is currently learning is spread throough out england... its going to be hard to find a common ground though.
I'll give you the wings to fly high, will you pull me along whilst you flying high?

Well, I'm from the Isle of Man, England is the closest place on this forum so I'll talk here.
On the topic of exams, Have done Higher science OCR papers, C1&2 B1&2 & P1&2 last week, yesterday was my M7 maths exam. I'll tell you now the maths exam made me feel more of a skxawng then ever, Made the stupid mistake I made in the science exam too of going back the second before the paper is handed in and changing an obviously correct answer to some obviously incorrect alternative.

You do GCSE or GCE or higher education.

I do maths/physics... What I learnt from it is... the more problems you try to solve the more new problems you create. It's called 'singularity' although I don't mean it that way... Sometimes the numbers get to your head and it tires you... try to take sufficient breaks when doing maths/physics.

So true... GCSEs are really easy, I can't wait to get onto A Level courses and do subjects I'm actually interested in.

I'm 16, what about some of you other guys/gals?

14 Myself, and the GCSEs did seem overly easy and far too impractical. Kinda felt it was a waste of krr.

I am 18 Currently doing my A2... I think A level is easy too, at first everything will be hard but, if you are intiative & determined then almost nothing is hard really.

Seconded. In my C2 GCSE module paper last week we got asked the RFM of water (which is easy enough) at the beginning and then they give it to you at the end/  ::)

I too can't wait for A level. Planning to go down a maths and physics route.

I'm in year 11 and will be 16 in March.

I love maths and numbers, don't dis them.  :P

I think the reason is probably partly because people who like maths and physics tend to be geeks and the sort of people who like sci-fi and learn conlangs and even more learn sci-fi conlangs tend to be geeks so there's quite a big overlap.

I do... Pure Maths, Further Maths and physics lool

Maths and physics is not boring its intresting... solely because I love it... Maths... numbers they are every were... Almost everything in life involves maths. Physics... there are things in physics which fascinates me... especially things I cannot understand.

Geek/neek are worst insult someone who can achieve gets... Geek and neek is not the right word... Mathematicians/Physicts are more open minded and tend to be free spirited and not bound to anything really. Most of their time they spent refuting theories. Not all physicists and Mathematicians like/learn sci fi colangs... as well as not only physicists/Mathematicians like/learn sci-fi colangs...

Kiyevame! :)

I don't think of geek as an insult and will usually label myself as such so that people understand the sort of person that I am. There's a significant movement to reclaim the word geek that I'm glad to be a part of.

And yes, obviously not all physicists/mathematicians learn conlangs but I'm willing to bet an above average proportion do. We've pushed ourselves away from social norms by doing maths and physics so we have no reason not to learn a conlang if we want to whereas many other people may feel to embarrassed or have a significant amount of peer pressure to overcome.

I'm 18, doing A2. USED to do Physics, but then the inner Mathematician in me died (Me+Science=FAIL) Now I do English, Film Studies and Art. :) I MASSIVELY love SciFi though, much to the distress of my classmates... I would think of myself as a geek, not as a negative thing, but simply because I have a habit of getting latched on to some technically "geeky" things, like Chess, and a million SciFi things. :) I love it though.

well put across you are right the majority of us whom end up learning these colang almost give no meaning to their 'image'...

I don't care about my image...
Well for the wordGeek" I am not offended and I know alot of friends who are offended by it... I simply tell them it is the worst insult someone who achieves can get,  usually I am able to see a smile in their faces.
