I think it would be awesome to have some kind of international meetup, some time when a lot of people have time off (like say, the summer). We could see how much we can replace English with Na'vi IRL. So, I'm just checking, would there be anyone interested in this? And do you think we could pull it off?

I realise that this would cost us a bit in terms of tickets and lodging but I'd be happy to look into some solutions if people are interested. For now, just see this as a crazy idea :)

I'd be happy to come along if i can sort it out, which country would the meet up be in?

Haven't really thought that far yet.. I guess some place that's as close as possible for everyone, or as cheap as possible.

Would be nice, to meet dedicated Na'vi learners from different countries!  :D
Well, 'ayoeng kAYevame' hopefully

I think, that this meetup can be realized. :) As accomodation (and meetup rooms) can be used some school for weekend. :) School not far away from train/bus stop and with parking. :) But we must choose the city to make the meetup in. :)

EDIT: And of course, we need to choose the country to organize meetup in.

I'll be done with Uni in July (and should have a bit of time on my hands then), so if there should be a "big" European meet-up in summer, I could definietely spare a few days (travel and all).

But yeah, would be nice to get something going.

Sounds awesome! Nice to meet someone who also could speak Na'vi. it's not many of us here in Norway.

I want to make this meetup in summer (holidays - July or August), so there will be two possibilities.
First: Meetup in some school with parking and good road acces
Second: on some grass field in tents.
All two possibilities have positives and negatives. It'll be depend on discusion and point of wiew of everybody from peoples who will attend. :) So firstly, everybody who want attend, write message here with:
Your country (if you want, you can add the city) and we'll take it into consideration when we'll be chosing the best position.
Type of accomodation (some building-maybe school or grass field and tent)
When in July or August and exact date, so we then can make descision, which place will be good for this meetup. :)

Maybe, somewhere deep in the forest!? Hehe

hemmond

No, because you'll need to get there somehow. :) And there are peoples, who don't have a jeep. :)

You sounded really creepy there :P but yeah, we should also put little lights everywhere to make it look more like Pandora ;D

Oh and I almost forgot: Hi, neighbour ^^

I'm free just about all of the summer months, I'd prefer it to be in England (being English and lazy  ;D) but I really don't mind

I'd be intrested, but would depend on whether or not my parents would let me go alone (i'm only 16). I know I can legally fly alone but depends on them. Would be useful to have as many details as possible irayo :)

As for me, I'll be in Austria from around mid-July (currently in England, but can't really get around much). So anything around late July would be best, since I'll be working from August on (though getting a couple of days off shouldn't be too difficult).

Generally, everything really depends on how "big" this is going to be (think "Na'vi Fest 2010"); I really don't mind driving across half of Europe (and picking up guys along the way - road trips are fun!)1, but it has to be worth it - spending a total of three days and a wad of €s to have a beer with two other guys: not so clever.

Yeah, so it would be really cool if someone2 could try and organize things a bit, check the who's, what's and where's etc. There are loads of Euro-peeps here and there's still plenty of time until summer, so people might actually be able to plan for this when presented with a concrete plan.

Otherwise I guess "local" meetings are more sensible (albeit orders of magnitude less fun)

Anyway, would be great if something could be worked out, I'd definitely be interested if the parameters are right ;)

1 of course, going by train as the more environmentally friendly option is also considered, where applicable.
2 don't even look at me! Whenever I organize things, they usually go horribly wrong... or catch fire, being involved with power electronics a bit.

Great, oe nìtseng (me too)!

As for the location, I live in the Holland, so anywhere close (Belgium, West of Germany or the Netherlands itself of course) would be the best. South-eastern UK (south-west or north-east of London), northern France (~ Paris limit), Luxembourg or a little farther into Germany (say ~ Hannover/Hamburg) is still doable. If it's gunna be farther than that it might become too difficult/expensive.
Personally I consider around Luxembourg (French/Belgian Ardennes or German Eiffel) a good place: lots of forests and mountains and it's kindof central to people from France, Germany and doable for UK as well I suppose.

@ Aysyal: you're right about the organising idea. Me myself, I won't have enough time (and skill) to do this..

- Peace -

July seems to be the best time to do this, since people have time off then. And so far we have the UK (2), the Czech Republic (1), Norway (1), Sweden (1), Holland (1), and Austria (1) I guess. Seeing as how us vikings are far from everything no matter what, and there are mostly brits, I suggest we do this somewhere around the Benelux or Germany (it's relatively cheap to fly to). Unless you all would like to come to Scandinavia, hm?

I totally agree with that. It's not worth it if it isn't big. And I can have a look to see if we can borrow a school or something for this. But it might be useful with some help from someone who has experience with organizing this stuff. Especially since I have loads of things to take care of at the moment.

Very good point; Amsterdam or Cologne for example are dirt cheap to fly to from nearly anywhere in Europe, so that's definitely a thing to look for.
And why not Scandinavia? Once a certain number of people have to fly there anyway, it doesn't really matter where we meet, as long as it's reasonably easy and cheap to travel there.

But yeah, let's see what other people have to say, and hope that some experienced volunteer organizing talent shows up ;)

If it will be close enough to CZE and there will be other sute going there tpp, I think I'll be able to get there :)

Well, I guess we could make an "Official Czech Na'vi Delegation" :D

I'm also in for a pan-european meeting, if it is timed right and backed by enough people to be fun ;) Geographically, it's currently Germany what seems to be the most reasonable choice - not too far for anyone. But kinda odd for me as I don't speak German... :)

Oh, and July definitely IS a good idea!

Edit: fixed my English...
