how to create a Na'vi avatar?

I'm having this avatar now http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t337/bellaaaatje112/Naviavatar.png?t=1266769301 but still I don't really like it (maybe also because it has nothing to do with me...) so, my question is (as you've probably seen in the title) "how can I create a Na'vi avatar (a pretty convincing one) from a real human photo"
I would like a tutorial, but I would have no complaint if anyone wants to turn a photo of me into a Na'vi.

All you need is a good pic of your face and this does the rest!! I used this to make mine.

Skxawng has some good stickies in this section on how to Avatarize yourself, although his method is rather time consuming. There's a full tutorial for the nose, and a time lapse on the one he made for Taronyu, so you can see what he did, but he does not spell it out step by step. If you have Photoshop, and decent knowledge of how to work it, that's where I would (and personally did) go.

If you have Photoshop, but aren't all that confident in it, search on google or youtube for full tutorials. There are tons of them out there.

If you don't have Photoshop, download GIMP, it's freeware that's like PS.

Normally I'd help out more, and offer to Na'vi-fy you if you are not artistic or don't have the software, but I'm both in the middle of shopping my own picture, and supposed to be working on physics right now.  If I get some time later on, and you haven't been Na'vi-fied yet, I'll see if I can't help out more.
