My first try painting something Na'vi via Gimp. I'm really proud of it, because I can only draw with my mouse. I don't have a graphictablet (yet) :D

A Na'vi mangastyle :)

I really like the detail you got around the iris & lashes. The color shading as well. I'm not much at art via technology, just with me hands. Very nicely done!

I like that picture! :D

Cool picture, I like how you did the skin and colors :)

I'm just wondering if you used a 3D model for reference/base?   ??? Because Gimp is only 2D afaIk...  :-\

Tìtstewan

You just have to draw the shadows on the right place for a 3D effect. :-\

It is only 2D. I just worked my way up trough different layers of painting. The shadows are mostly done by... I don't know the english word :-[ 'nachbelichten' It makes the original colour darker every time you 'paint' over. Its pretty simple.

Tìtstewan

Nachbelichten -> to burn (photo technique) ;)

Anyway, you did a good job!

I second that. Good job  :). It really doesn't seem like a face to me, more like a sort of abstract, playful color and shape painting. I don't mean that you've failed in your effort to portray a Na'vi face, it's just that to me, close-ups of Na'vi faces like this one kinda gives me that impression due to their beautiful blue, striped, bioluminescent skin.

Just one question: Why did you post the artwork with the Na'vi girl twice ????

Kaltxì ma  Teylar Ta Palulukankelku,

in her first post there was one picture only first, I guess she edited it in order to add the second picture, which she posted later, to give those, who visit this thread for the first time/who view the beginning of this thread, a better overview of all pictures posted here by her - like I did with my fan art thread. :)
