have been very busy working on this and haven't really had a chance to do any other personal work, outside of khal drogo However I've a few ideas I'm going to be potentially working on in a month or so that might be of interest.

Yeah I know, thats one of the things I have to work on. So thx for remembering  ;D Well, 2nd picture (video) is still a work in progress, so I'm still trying to make this become a better picture - and a picture I could practise on and hopefully have learned something afterwards. ;) I just have to use color more "freely", not so "stiffly" like it is, still, but I think it's getting better piece by piece.
So thx for commenting :)

Watching your process while painting there are a few things you could immediately start doing to get yourself aware of the color localization issue.

The first would be to start with base colors that are already graded. That is, instead of just paint-bucketing the background for the blue and whatnot, select two different blues, one darker/cooler, and one lighter/warmer and use a gradient. Consider where in the image you want your light to be coming from. Consider how the lighting will accentuate your figure and composition, and where you want the eye to be drawn. Depending on the lightsource then, (warm or cool) apply the contrary color to the opposite direction.

For example, if I'm planning on having sunlight shining from the upper right of the image (either behind or in front of the figure) I'll choose a cooler, darker blue to grade from the bottom left.

What having the two hues of blue will do is force you to reconsider the colors  you're using for shading/highlights. A warm highlight or shadow won't work in a cool area.  It'll be frustrating at first and will likely result in a few start-overs but in the logn run it'll help improve the locality of color in your work.  Few things in life are ever truly local in color. Even cloth with a single light upon it reflects color back onto itself, which can be warm/cool depending on the cloth's color. Our brain will also naturally differentiate the two, even if they're very close.

Another thing that'll help out greatly with color localization is to just forgo using black to shadow, altogether. Instead of *just* choosing black for shading cyan/turquoise, try using a dark color somewhere else in the spectrum.

hope to see more work!

Thx so much for your advices, Skxawng, I'll try to heed them when I'll continue drawing that picture :)

If you have to agree I guess you wouldn't like the sketchdump either way, so I guess it's good the link is broken by now ;D jk. The sketchdump can be found inside my websites Portfolio, somewhere inbetween the "Trash can".
Thanks :)

Decided to start a Na'vi bust some weeks ago.

Started with the Na'vi bust base 2 days ago or so, it's about 10cm high.
I know it's just the base yet, but I wanna show you the progress of making it, so I already posted the pic here ^^

Next step is adding modelling clay and modelling it :D But I don't know yet how I should make the hair. Should it be made out of clay, too, or should I use some more realistic hair, like from a wig? Hm... And I need to buy glow-in-the-dark-paint...

Blue Elf

I vote for more realistic material for hair, but even clay can give good result, if you are good with your hands. You are the artist, so final decision is on you :)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see bust finalized...

Love what you have here :D the video was especially interesting. Did you use Photoshop for it? And also do you have a DeviantArt account?

Thanks to all of you for the feedback, much appreciated :)

@ Chimera
Yeah, I have a DeviantArt-account, but I don't upload all of my stuff there regularly, just some of my work now and then. :)
The link to it can be found inside my signature.

I wasn't satisfied with the way it looked anymore, so I spontaneously decided to retouch it a bit so it might look like it was originally intended to do... a bit more, at least. Quite some difference, though, in my opinion :) What do you think?

Pic #1 is the old one just for comparison, #2 is the new version without "extras" and #3 is the new version with "extras".

All three images are © me / EanaUnil / SickDelusion / Kris F. - please respect that.

Ricardo

Me gusta.
The changes in the face let her look younger and friendlier.
It's a bit weird that the tail is in her front but it's okay.
I like especially what you've done with the hair.
The background looks more natural in my eyes.

For me the extras are not necessary but they are well-chosen.

New pictures really looks better and more like Na'vi, especially eyes.

I started many weeks ago to made Na'vi by filofun/scoubidou but I haven't a lot time enought to finish it. I have a winter-holiday now and I want to continue my work.

Eana Unil

Started to do a bust of a Na'vi girl (did the aluminium foil base some weeks ago, started to add modelling clay today):
Of course it's not finished yet. I guess I'll have to redo the ears and refine her face, add some more "jawbone" and stuff.

And started to do a new picture:

I'm also planning to do a (short?) comic of 2 Na'vi protagonists. But I don't know when I'll finish all this, there's still so much other  and urgent stuff waiting to be done -.-

Great! definitely do it!
I know what lack of time means - I'd like to have 48 hour days! So much interesting work to do and so little time...

Alor! Lora! Beautiful!
The modeling on the mouth is KOSMAN!
And I like your "pencil" drawing style. Your lines have lots of energy!
